I know I stand alone but we've had pilots arrested for drinking who were preparing to take off. I'm against guns in the cockpit for exactly the same situation as presented by this ATF agent. Humans are humans.

If only he had been smoking a cigarette while publicly intoxicated and waving his gun at kids/teenagers. That would have been an ATF hat-trick.

Humans are humans. That is right there an ugly trolling stereotype.

Yes, our government masters can keep their firearms while under indictment. Wanna bet if a CCW permit holder could do the same?

Thank God he wasn't a psychotic pothead!
At least normal folks know what to expect from drunks.

We should require all passengers to show up with sidearms. Not allow, require.

This is not news, it's a "dog bites man" story. Nothing unusal. This is the BATF we are taling about here, the dregs of federal law enforcement. I'll bet he was smoking a cigarete, or possibly something else, and it just wasn't reported.

I'd bite on that one. Perfect excuse for me to pick up a new shoulder harness for my Taurus. ;-)

You are comparing a cop to an airline pilot????? Humans are humans and the odds are with the pilots not the cops.

Field sobriety tests showed he had a blood alcohol level of 0.22 percent, more than twice the legal limit for driving, authorities said. Police said Petersen refused to take a Breathalyzer test at the jail. Loss of drivers license??? DUI charges???
No, of course not. One set of rules for royalty, and other for the peasants.
This man's entire livlihood consists of enforcing laws, yet he himself doesn't obey them. Which of course leads us to the word of the day:
hy·poc·ri·sy Pronunciation Key (h-pkr-s) n. pl. hy·poc·ri·sies
1. The practice of professing beliefs, feelings, or virtues that one does not hold or possess; falseness.
2. An act or instance of such falseness.

You are comparing a cop to an airline pilot????? Humans are humans and the odds are with the pilots not the cops. It's not even a cop, it's an ATF agent by all means, the guy supposed to control guns!!! if that ever was an oxymoron with guns getting out of control on their own, you know, like pit bulls.
Then again, humans are humans, we are all so stupid, no one of any responsibility should allow custody over guns and jurisdictions, not be given a single chance at manhood, nope, we're humans, not men, maybe hence we can make ourselves oh so superior to terrorists by persuading them with peace and offering ourselves as sacrifices (sarcasm).

Being pretty well versed in things related to drunk, I'd say that the guy was pretty looped at .22% BAC. Probably stumbling just a bit. Its a wonder he didn't shoot anybody.

Those ATF guys sure aren't very accommodating to the any mistakes made by the people who violate the obscure and often impossible-to-understand firearms laws that the ATF is frequently accused of just making up as they go along.
Why shouldn't we return the favor in this case?
If he's found guilty, he should be locked up for ten years at least.

Loss of drivers license??? DUI charges??? Amazing, the jerk admits driving his car, is noticeably intoxicated, refuses a Breathalyzer...and all he's charged with is public drunk??!! Amazing.
Maybe the local folks don't want some of Petersen's buddies "visiting" them in the middle of the night?
