President Bush met with President Alvaro Uribe of Colombia today, and discussed the war on terrorism, as well as Columbia's continued efforts in fighting the illegal drug trade. Bush also met with the Boys and Girls Clubs National Youth of the Year finalists in the White House. This evening, the President attended the National Republican Senatorial Committee dinner at the National Building Museum. Meanwhile, First Lady Laura Bush was in Mexico City attending the 11th Conference of Spouses of Heads of State and Government. Enjoy your daily dose of Dubya!

Daschele must have got a job description that says he is suppose to obstruct. You would think, wouldn't you? Hey, Tom, where's the budget???? It's a few months overdue.
To: McLynnan
Can you imagine the President's frustration in dealing with these snakes? The security of our country and the free world is at stake, and these pandering, self promoting obstructionists can't get their minds off themselves long enough to protect us. Is asking for a united front to the world asking too much?
That is how I see it and I imagine many people do also. I doubt that they have revealed all of the evidence to Daschle because they fear that he would leak it. I wonder if they are still investigating the senators?
To: Kath
No, the President isn't going to issue any apologies. The White House tried to give Daschle a face saving way out this afternoon by saying the Post took the President's comments out of context. Instead of taking the graceful way out, Daschle chose to accelerate his little rant.
To: rintense
Great pictures tonight again, rintense. It looks like Senator Hutchinson has her Texas 'Hook-Em-Horns' orange on in those pictures. She is such a lovely lady. I spent a greater part of the day reading about the Daschel meltdown and about the hurricane headed for Louisiana. Gone directly to my home town. Spoke to some of my family tonight and it doesn't seem to be as bad as earlier reported.
To: Texagirl4W
That is good. My son's fiance and her family live near Alexandria.
To: Kath
Daschle should be the one apologizing to the American people for putting party before our interests. There are not enough printable words to describe this low-life
To: Lauratealeaf
I wonder if they are still investigating the senators? Good question. I haven't heard anything about that in a while. If W says Saddam has to go NOW, I trust him enough to know he has very good reasons. He isn't going to send our military into harm's way because we have elections looming. That Byrd and Daschle would even imply such a thing is criminal.
To: rintense
Wish we could get more pics of Laura in that gorgeous red dress. How great is that??

"Sometimes it irratates me how polite Dubya is to the leaders of the 'rats, but it has served its purpose because there was such a striking difference in the way the two came across and it was so noticable. Even my (very liberal) mother-in-law had to notice the huge difference between the two"
Yes, the contrast is striking, especially so today. Good breeding and good upbringing will out everytime.

They will probably get a lot of rain. Hope they are all OK. My family is closer to New Orleans and west toward Morgan City. I lived there for 30 years and spent many a night in a storm shelter. We're just praying for the best now.
To: Inspectorette
Wouldn't it be nice if Rush and the Fox news people did lurk here, and used the information from Lauratealeaf?
Daschle isn't a good kisser! You could guess that from looking at him. He's too short to reach unless the lady bent down. That plus all the other things he doesn't do well.
To: Fracas
in this case ... YEP .. lol

When male dogs get really, really old, they don't lift their legs anymore. So maybe we can hope that the current Senate dems get really, really old.

To: McLynnan
Actually, the "well-manered, softspoken and polite" title was given via Rush Limbaugh.
While the repubs seemed to be huffing and puffing, here was Daschle seeming to be unflapable.
Leave it to our beloved President to be able to push the right button. I wonder if GW knew he would finally explode - the reason I say that is because GW seemed to be getting bolder and bolder every day with his statements about the Senate. Hmmmmm?? LOL
To: anniegetyourgun
Which president in the last 30 years lied to get us into a military action?
Well, it had to be Clinton. The most significant military action he got us in was Bosnia. So doing a Google search for "clinton bosnia lies" yields up the reminder that he said our troops would only be there for 18 months then come home, in order to get support.
The troops are still there.
Not sure if that's what you had in mind or not.

I've also noticed than when male dogs are neutered at a very early age, as they do when you get a pup from the pound or animal shelter, they tend to not know that they are male and should lift their leg. Seen year and a half and two year old male dogs who were neutered early and they have no idea!!!

Belt in the mouth, pie in the face, beat severely about the head and shoulders, pull his chair out from under him, short sheet his bed, Ex-Lax in his coffee, etc. etc.LOL!! Right on Miss Marple! I was yelling at my tv when I saw a replay of this "speech" he made me so mad. We must gain back control of the Senate!!
To: Lauratealeaf; Kath
Some good friends of mine attended a fundraising luncheon last week in Nashville. The President was there and raised a cool $1M at lunch for LaMar Alezander's Senate campaign. My friends have not necessarily been Alexander supporters in the past but they said the goal is to help the President and to regain the Senate.

Well, someone called him a weasel, but that would be insulting to weasels. Since he's not a vegetable or a mineral and shares many physical characteristics of humans, it seemed simpler to classify him this way. Simpler, yet not without its drawbacks.

Daschle needs to rethink the words "debate" and "politicize". Seems to me that it is he, Daschle, who has "politicized" the issue by demanding a "debate". How can there be an opposing position when it comes to protecting America ? His little performance today certainly was not about protecting America but it sure looked a lot like politics to me.

If any of you are in Pierre, South Dakota, or Atlanta, Georgia, or Salem, West Virginia, or Little Rock, Arkansas, or West Des Moine, Iowa, check in with the Senate races in a week or so and get a bumpersticker.

I'm waiting on calls from Missouri and Texas to see who gets the last lot of 500.

After analyzing Gore's speech and listening to Daschle's meltdown, I can only conclude that the RATS have consciously decided to emulate hur Schroeder's anti-war/anti-American (read anti-Bush) strategy for the November 02 elections. This will certainly appeal both to the RAT base and to the Hollywood money people who actually bankrole these idiots!! [NOTE: Rob Reiner helped write Gore's speech and other members of the traitorist Hollywood left are furiously raising money to advance the aforementioned agenda!]
I strongly recommend that we all call Daschle and let him know what we think about his unstatesmanlike behavior (and incredibly poor acting!).
DC Office: 202.224.2321
Senate Majority Leader Office: 202.224.5556
Souix Falls SD office: 605.334.9596
(I called the latter office today after discovering that Daschle's DC office had stopped taking calls -- the volume had overwelmed their service!)
I also recommend that we call Gephardt and encourage him to behave like a statesman and continue supporting the President on the war/resoluation!!!

Exactly right, Darlin. Right out of the Clinton Playbook. Accuse someone else of doing EXACTLY what it is you are doing. The 'Rats are the ones doing the grandstanding and politicizing.
If I recall, the author of this article in the WashPost, Dana Milbank, is no friend of the Pubblies. I think she has written some hit pieces on our W before. I'll try to search around and see. But, no matter, this was a sloppy piece of journalism - and it is happening more and more. The NYTimes even published completely fabricated "remarks" by the President. They are getting so blatant now, not even trying to disguise their extreme partisanship. It's despicable - to use KKK Byrd's word of the day.

Here's a little snippet of the President's speech this evening at the Republican Senatorial dinner. I wonder if little Tommy will have another cow tomorrow on the floor of the Senate.
"In order to make real progress for America, I believe we need to have a change of leadership in the United States Senate. (Applause.) And together, together -- we can work together to make America a stronger place, a safer place, and a better place for everybody who is fortunate enough to live in this country."
