Or send them to HSLDA...because if prosecution begins, HSLDA will be quite busy.

Right, but realize that until we can put a stop to the confiscation of money at the paymasters window, it will continue.

When they have the money in hand before you do, what you say doesn't count.

However, the state does not regulate private schools or prosecute truants, which is the responsibility of local school districts and district attorneys.

Yet another attempt to sell more newspapers by exciting the general public. Makes sense that this article would run in the SD paper since there's such a large contigent up in North County (Vista in particular).

Only well into the body of the article do they finally reveal the truth: neither the state nor the county BOEs have any real power over the respective shool districts.

By way of reference, a consulting firm I was involved with a couple of years ago won a contract from the state BOE - only later did the principals find out that Sac had no authority over the local districts.

Yours is a real defeatist attitude. Just what those educrats want! Come on, those homeschoolers need to stay in there and fight and we need to be encouraging that not promote giving up.

So, what can we( who live in other states) do to help? CD

I think we need to pray and be encouraging to those homeschooling folks in CA. We need not give up when the going gets tough in our own state.

Thanks so much for posting this! It's very encouraging isn't it? I hope other districts take the same stand and voice their support for parental rights.

We really don't need any advice from spineless goofballs, thank you. If California falls, you don't think the trend will come to you?

We'll stay and fight, thanks.

Sorry if I got your dander up, but that was a rhetorical question with a barb directed (rather clearly, I thought anyway) at Davis and the liberal storm troopers. Maybe you should reread my post (and posts to other topics) before calling me a "spineless goofball." Homeschool mama seemed to get my meaning.

I will just put it down to your being upset and highly threatened by the state.

It should be noted that I live in Massachusetts, so if there is a crackpot trend in California that will migrate eastward, it no doubt will rear its ugly head here first. So I do have great sympathy and fear.

...because home-schooling is illegal, home-schooling parents did not need to file an annual private school affidavit>

Indeed, the state could have no other position if home-schooling is illegal. The fifth amendment would then protect home-schooling parents from self-incrimination!

Tyranny, Kalifornia-style!
Communists intimidating those that won't let the 'state' indoctrinate their children. And the fact that so many home-schooled children score so much higher than the children taught by the moron's stamped by the NEA as 'certified teacher'.
"We don't know of anyone being prosecuted.." and then all of a sudden 'wham'.
Just like "register your firearms..we're never going to ban them and confiscate them" and then what did Kalifornia do?
We all know about Kali's intentions.

At some point, we will all have to stand and fight, literally, or find smaller and smaller amount of turf that are 'friendly'. That, ultimately, is the goal of the UN and the the New World Order. Herd all of the Conservatives, Christians and any others on the edge of the new world communist community into smaller, easy to manage areas. I prefer to stand and fight right here for now.

Note to Delaine Eastin:

Quit harrassing homeschoolers, Delaine. Your public students aren't doing at all well, especially on their high-stakes tests. Apparently over 50% failed and will not graduate this year:
