UN ignored because Annan is black - Mandela
September 30 2002 at 04:33PM
Jakarta, Indonesia - Former South African President Nelson Mandela on Monday intensified his criticism of United States policy on Iraq, and alleged that race was a factor in countries questioning the United Nations.
"No country, however powerful it may be, is entitled to act outside the United Nations," he told local Trans TV on his arrival at Jakarta's Sukarno Hatta Airport for a four-day trip.
"The United Nations is here to promote peace in the world and any country that acts outside the United Nations is making a serious mistake."
Mandela, a frequent critic of US policy on Iraq, also said that countries were only challenging the mandate of the United Nations now because Secretary-General Kofi Annan is black.
A threat to world peace "I have also said when the secretary-generals were white, we never had the question of any country ignoring the United Nations," he said.
"But now that we have got the black secretary-generals like Boutros Boutros Ghali and now Kofi Annan, certain countries that believe in white supremacy, are ignoring the United Nations," he said.
"We have to combat that without reservation."
President Bush said the United States will lead a coalition to oust Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein from power if he does not destroy his weapons of mass destruction.
Iraq has said it will allow weapons inspectors into the country to check its weapons capability. But on Saturday, it said they must return under terms of previous UN resolutions, meaning inspectors would not have access to sprawling presidential palaces as the US has demanded.
Mandela and the South African government have good relations with Iraq. Mandela has called the United States a threat to world peace and said its belligerent policy toward Iraq was an effort to appease the oil and arms industry.
Before meeting with Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister Tariq Aziz on the sidelines of the World Summit in Johannesburg earlier this month, Mandela told reporters he was "appalled" by US threats against Baghdad.
Mandela is scheduled to meet President Megawati Sukarnoputri on Tuesday and spend the remainder of his time working with children's charities. Embassy officials described his visit as private. - Sapa-AP

Sorry, Nelson, we're ignoring Khofi for the same reason we're ignoring you - it isn't that you're black, it's that you're a jerk.

No Nelson, Kofi is ignored because he is brainless.
To: blam
I dunno. Actually I prefer my Khofi the way I like my women, excepting of course for the Communist/Socialist political alignment...
Oh come on, someone had to say it...
To: blam
Now wait a minute...I knew Saddam was many things bad or good but I never thought he was a racist...
But I guess that explains why Saddam has been ignoring Koffi Annon-imous for almost 12 years now....
Sheesh...talk about desperation...

The U.N. was primarily formed to mediate things between nations, but dictatorships thrive in today's world and their leaders have turned the U.N. into a dictator protection society -- a palpable threat to freedom.
Bush is serving freedom well by pressing the U.N. to do what's right or become irrelevant.
To: Yakboy
Any organization that had an ex-Nazi (Waldheim) as Secretary deserves to be ignored.

Yeah Kofi's Black alright with a blonde Swedish wife. A relative of Raul Wallenberg by the way. What a joke. One day Kofi will retire on all the $$$$$ put into his Swiss bank accounts by Muslim UN nations. And he'll retire in Europe not in Ghana, Africa where he's from......

| Among those to congratulate the couple were UN secretary-general Kofi Annan and his wife Nane. |

I wish Bush could forgive Alan Keyes for his primary comments and stick him back in the U.N. You might think that is racism, using Keyes because he is black. No, it's not my racism, it's that Annan and Mandela might listen to a black American when they will not listen to a white one because of THEIR racism. And Keyes pulls no punches...

That is correct. However, they don't help the stereotypes any by acting like such self-centered clowns when they play the race card.
To: blam
Mandela is a black supremacist hack who wishes to subvert ideas to racist ideology. The US has felt free to ignore the UN long before it had a black Secretary General, so that is clearly no determinant.

When you have nothing substantial to contribute, play the race card. It's now a worldwide philosophy not just a U.S. phenomenon.
To: blam
One would think then, that the Sink Emperor should be ignored for the same reason.

Nobody calls Kofi an anus because of the race card.

Like you like your coffee? Hot, black and sweet? Sorry, I just had to say that. In fact, I did once say it in front of a black administrator in whose office I was working as a floater. Got a few laughs.
To: blam
Oh, woe is me. We hate you all now because you're black. Get a life, Mandela! If they don't like Kofi it's because he's incompetent, not because of his color. Cheez, don't these guys ever quit this race card game they're playing? They can't win but they keep on playing it.
To: Yakboy
Actually I prefer my Khofi the way I like my women,I like to add a litte twist to this old line.
I set it up with the old, "I like my women like I like my coffee".
Invariably, I get the answer, (because they've heard it a million times)
"Black?"
I then say...."No....instant".

That's not the way I remember it:

Article 51
Nothing in the present Charter shall impair the inherent right of individual or collective self-defence ...

This is what's wrong with affirmative action. No matter how successfull a person may be (the head of the UN), people like Mandella will still judge them on the color of their skin instead of the content of their soul.
Sad, so very sad.

Maybe Mandela is teaming up with Jesse Jackson to give a joint performance soon.
If Mandela cares so much about the race-thing, why isn't he questioning the UN resolutioning Israel all the time for the same things they allow everyone else to get away with?
And where was Mandela when the UN where doing a lot of Jew-bashing over in his home-country at the Johannesburg 'anti-racism' conference?
Maybe Mandela is a racist himself? Maybe that is why he is siding with Arafat, the numero uno sand-nazi, who called nazi-collaborator Haji 'his hero'.
To: knighthawk
Allusions delude to preclude conclusions. Illusions fade as reality inevitably intrudes.
The UN is ignored because it is worthless. For them, reality sux.

It's all about 3rd world solidarity. And the UN is a tool of the 3rd world and their Islamic bloc these days.
