Brit said "Wait a minute, Juan", and proceeded to state how Bush had been playing the Iraqi situation extremely low key throughout the spring and summer and that it was the Democrats who asked for the public debate on Iraq. (It was extremely difficult for Brit to get Juan to shut up, but he finally did. )That if Bush had tried to defer the discussion on Iraq, the Democrats would have made a big issue out of it, by accusing Bush of not wanting to inform the public prior to the election "for political purposes".
I recall also, a couple of weeks ago, Daschle saying that Congress couldn't take up the Iraqi issue because Bush had not asked for a Congressional resolution. When Bush promptly reequested that Congressional resolution, it was obvious that Daschle had played right into Bush's hands. I suspect that is the primary reason why Daschle had his temper trantrum last week, to try to divert attention.
When Brit stated near the end of the discussion that the Democrats wanted it both ways but couldn't have it both ways, every panelist was forced to agree that the Democrats had created their own political mess! It was great!
