I'm reposting this comment here because I think it's important to understanding this.

I would suspect that many of these folks are former Black Muslims, or at any rate, people who have been involved with the Black Muslims at one time or another in the past.

But Black Muslims were not accepted by Muslims in general because they believe that Muhammed X (founder of the movement) was a prophet, while ordinary Middle Eastern Muslims believe that Mohammed was the "last prophet." Some Black Muslims, however, have renounced their belief in Muhammed X and have joined up with the regular ME kill-the-infidel Muslims.

I think we're looking at some of them.

Correctamente. The individual in the center (Patrice L. --for Lumumba--Ford) was either named or named himself (more than likely) after the communist (and assassinated) leader Patrice Lumumba of the Congo.

If he did this, then he has started out as a stark raving Marxist, and has either morphed into an Islamist or, the Islamists have formed an internal alliance with communist subversives in the US, because their common enemy is the United States of America. I hope they make 'em sing real good tonight.

U.S. law enforcement officials have arrested four members of a suspected terrorist cell and charged them with conspiracy to wage war against the United States.

Attorney General John Ashcroft says three suspects were arrested in Oregon and one in Michigan. Two others are being sought overseas. Five of the six are American citizens.

Prosecutors allege the six tried to travel to Afghanistan after the September 11 terrorist attacks to fight with the Taleban and al-Qaida against U.S. troops.

One of the six, Jeffrey Battle, served in the U.S. Army Reserve. Authorities allege that he intended to use his combat training against Americans fighting in Afghanistan.

All six have been charged with conspiracy to wage war on the United States and with providing material support and services to al-Qaida and the Taleban.

If convicted, the accused could face up to life in prison.
