Good morning, Dear Friends. Today I was asked to help with a "Celebration of Angelique", who has recently joined other beloved FReepers at the FReeRepublic Memorial Wall.

Good morning all. I remember Angelique well from the cookbook threads. Who could not notice her feisty wit? She was delightful and I would just LOL at her antics. What a brave and beautiful woman she was, and she will be missed.
My sympathy and prayers for her family and friends. She was for sure, One of FreeRepublic's Finest.

This is a great thread, and brings back Angelique so well. I remember her mostly from her epic battles with MadIvan. It was all in fun as she championed France and Ivan battled for St. George and England. It cracked me up as she would bring in Henry VIII, the burning by the English of Joan of Arc, and everything else "perfidious Albion" ever did. She was both feisty and funny. :)

What a beautiful tribute today! Our condolences for your loss.

Normally, we would have just sent this along to thank you for your participation at Missouri's Infinite FReep. Instead, may we pass it along with prayers for Angelique?

Peace roses from Missouri FReepers.

Where does one begin to describe Angelique?!

Wonderful - fascinating - gifted - possessing a facile mind - passionate about a broad range of topics - funny - caring - witty - warm.
All those things, surely, but 'special' in many indefinable ways.

It was my privilege to have her as a friend, with delightful correspondences, and engagements on Free Republic threads.

The early ones were with SierraWasp on efforts by some unique (..:)) individuals to stop the logging in the Northwest, which we ridiculed with much glee!

One of the three of us would post a zinger, and the other two had to chime in using repetition of a chosen consonant to compose the reply - and try to make sense with it in the process!
Inevitably, others were drawn into the game, often outdoing us.

The Presidential Election Year provided much material, so filled with incredulity as to what the Dems were trying to do, I decided with as many trips as she and I were making to the Freep Mail Room, we ought to decorate it to suit our tastes.

We conferred on wall colors, as bizarre as possible so no one would be able to snooze in there - gaudy furnishings - and there was the day I put up large posters with pictures of the Clinton Cronies. Under them I put in large letters UNWANTED !! - they were of Bill and Hill and algore and Begala and Ann Lewis, etc.

They served a quite useful dual purpose. One could use darts provided to throw at the pictures, providing an outlet for our frustration, and all who entered were free to share the fun.

The most recent activity I described on the thread carlo had for her. On a thread was a heated discussion about how to prepare 'proper' chili, several factions insistent upon theirs as the 'ONLY' way to prepare it - with or without beans - how much 'heat' to incorporate - and what to have with it - cornbread - biscuits - crackers the choices.

Someone said they had prepared a batch of it with biscuits for us all.
The next morning my thoughts wandered to all the leftover ones, and what useful thing might be made of them.

I hailed Angelique, and when she responded, I 'threw' some at her in Arizona, from my location in South Carolina.
She of course gleefully reciprocated, and I cautioned some Freepers in Texas to not stand up and get in the line of fire.
Angelique and I then made those who trespassed the targets, and the battle got lively, complete with a genuine biscuit launcher - a huge military one that could propel them accurately and save our throwing arms.

That soon led to on Cinco de Mayo Day, repeating that with the Tortilla War.

Angelique loved fun - serious things - things of France - others - brought us regularly blurbs of wisdom we might not have read or needed to be reminded of.

To sum all things up, she was The Ultimate GIVER - of self and life and love.

I believe that in her at this time being summoned to be with God to be free of her illnesses (of which we had no knowledge),
we are the recipients of her Greatest Gift ~ ~

A reminder to fully appreciate our friends and loved ones -
to cherish them NOW, not just after they are no longer among us -
and to LIVE TODAY the very best you can.

Angelique - Susan - you will live on in many of us,
and you blessed us so very much!

We thank you from the bottom of our hearts, those who loved you.

Angelique, I didn't know you before, but the impression you left with you friends has allowed our introduction.

Well, here I am, fashionably late. The nice thing is I get a lot of attention when I walk through the door. The downside. . . all the good food is gone!

I was away from FR for most of the last 10 days or so. I last spoke with Angelique in May. I have taken a few minutes to assemble a collection of quotes from Angelique on the subject that seemed most dear to her: freedom. On this battlefield of words, Angelique was tireless and courageous beyond belief in the face of the enemies of freedom. I hope that these thoughts of hers will linger a very long time in the hearts of those of you who fought beside her for the cause of freedom, as well as those who did not know Angelique until later. These are gut-wrenchingly brave and bold statements Angelique made to me in emails; they truly symbolize everything that is great about America. Behold THIS LEGACY!..gg188

...I still cannot get that picture of the Elian raid out of my head. My papa cannot either.

My initiation to forums was the one of my local radio show. It is defunct now, but the reason I ventured to FR resulted from the ache of fighting with supposed "conservatives" about Elian staying here.

Slowly, we give our Freedom away. We watched as Congress sat on their hands as Clinton bellied up to Castro and allowed the JaNUT to snatch Elian. You know, of course, that Hellary spent some time in college in Cuba. And then, of course, Billybob was in Russia.

Sending Elian back, and courting the commies in doing so, is the darkest day in our history. My papa still gets tears in his eyes. It was so wrong, and history better tell it right! Whoever wanted Elian back to Cuba is not deserving to even speak words about Freedom!

We've talked about it before, but no one on the face of the planet can be a decent human being and believe that Elian should have been sent back.

....While we can have disagreements within the spectrum of conservatism, there are certain tenets that cannot be compromised, i.e. Elian staying free.

...it is impossible to make peace with any of those folks who wanted to send Elian back. Those folks are NOT conservatives. I do read the threads, but stay away from posting. There is nothing we can do, but keep him in our prayers.

...a true conservative could have no other position than to keep Elian free. When you consider what Congress did after the Raid, one has to wonder who those true conservatives are.
