Falwell never said the bad guys were not to blame. They were 100% to blame. But Falwell said we were to blame for turning our backs on God and losing his protection--consistent with Biblical teaching. That doesn't make the timing of his words politically smart, but he was speaking of a spiritual reason for God to allow such horror. That doesn't mean he called it right, but it is a reason God did not protect the Israelis many times in the OT.
Keep in mind too that the only reason the entire nation knew of Falwell's words--spoken on CBN and WHO watches that?--was because Planned Parenthood makes sport of STALKING Falwell everywhere he goes.

Falwell a hero? LOL I think he is scum -- now on the other hand more power to him if he pisses of the NCoC. They are nothing more than a front for the communists.

Thanks, Tony. That is it exactly!

Falwell is still tarnished by his moronically unChristian comment about 9/11.
Jesus taught that both the just and the unjust suffer and that the wheat is harvested along with the tares. He should have read his Bible before causing the bereaved so much pain with his fat mouth.
He obviously already knows what Islam is all about - he should study Christianity.

Math is unforgiving. If the bad guys
were 100% to blame, end of story.

Indeed you're correct -- the truth is often not warm and fuzzy at all. ...And that's what I like about Falwell; he says what he believes, and he doesn't seem to care whose toes he steps on.
Along with calling Islam a "cult of death" and Mohammad "a terrorist," my favorite Falwell quote was when he called Mohammad "a pedophile."

60 Minutes actually allowed a little bit of truth to get out on their airwaves, huh? They've had some great episodes recently. Last week there was a segment about connections between Arafat and Saddam, including illegal weapons shipments and payments to the families of Palestinian homicide bombers. You've been missing out.

Bad guys, 100% blame for 9/11.
Sin, 100% blame for losing God's protection.
They are two different things.
There are many reasons God allows bad things to happen. The biggest reason is simply the sin of the perpetrators. We live in a sinful and dangerous world. That is the case here. In the book of Job, God allowed bad things to happen to Job as a test of his faith. That didn't lessen the guilt of anyone who harmed Job, but God removed his protection for a different reason in that case.
The Bible says over and over that God is with the righteous but not the unrighteous. God walked in the Garden of Eden with Adam and Eve. Their punishment was separation from Him. We can't have it both ways. We either honor God and have His fellowship and protection and ear, or we dishonor Him with our disobedience (sin) and we reap whatever this sinful world throws at us.
It is basic Christian doctrine. But preaching against sin is very un-pc these days.

Let me try it this way: Our military, intelligence agencies, etc. protect us and a lot of strategy plus politics enters the mix. If they fail and we are attacked, we get hit. That doesn't mean our military is to blame for the hit. That is 100% the fault of whoever commits the crime. But the blame for the failure to protect us could lie elsewhere.

You've never even seen him speak, have you? At the height of the x42/Monica scandal I watched him speak with clarity, authority, morality, and calm reason while on one of the talking heads shows. His liberal opponent was a rude, screeching, harpy that was nearly foaming at the mouth in his/her (don't remember) rabid support for x42 (and probably equal hatred of Falwell).
I challenge you to find a show with him as a speaker/guest and watch and THEN make an assessment of the man.
To: RJCogburn
Incorrect. He blamed our turning away from God for Him allowing the terrorists to strike us. The Bible gives many accounts where God lifts His protection from Israel and individuals because they turn frm Him. In that sense it may have been our fault.
To: Delbert
How is that any different then saying God used the terrorists to punish the US for being evil?
Guess we could tell anybody who is a victim of some awful crime..that God would have protected them if it wasn't for some sin they committed.
How sick.
