That might be another reason for the "same type" sites...the camera setups are similar, can be located easily and can be avoided.

That's why I'm thinking the vehicle is in the next lot over, "spotting for the sniper" who is on foot for the actual shoot and they're using two-way radios. We have six units which we use at our cottage to keep in touch...it's 100 acres.

"greater chance of being killed in a routine traffic accident."

Well, I don't have to visit the 'Beltway' to worry about wrecks! One in four will have a serious accident in a lifetime, they say.

But I'm a 'driver', and taught my own kids, and I've seen enough to know it'll take a meteorite or a deliberate act of God to get us in 'serious' trouble on the road (knock on wood....)

Your attempts to minimize the threat posed by this sniper will do very little to quell the fears of those who shop, school, and live in the area. The miserable murderer has had it his way so far, but that is bound to end soon.

As a people, I hope we can change fast enough to protect ourselves from the new threats in our daily lives. I hope the 'learning curve' is skewed in our favor.

I agree with you both.

It's the way I would do it if were the shooter but I think I would be spreading out more for a while and return to the area at a later date.

I don't know why they just don't put up a high altitude reconnaissance aircraft with high resolution, wide angle cameras and have it orbit the region for a few days, then when the next shooting occurs, lets look at the pictures...

It would not surprise me if this is being done now.

Whether it turns out to be one or two killers, it works the same. Someone decides if the formula is met before the shoot.

In Oregon, the terrorists were shooting at a gravel pit in Washington after 911. They were getting ready to go to fight with the Taliban agaiinst us. Locals heard the rapid gunfire and called the cops.

Nothing much was done that day and they were let go, except a cop remembered the name of one of these strange guys in turbans when he saw him later on the news on another matter. This led the feds to set up a year long surveilance of a mosque and an apartment complex in SW Portland.

They finally arrested a group of them when the feds had made their case and found out as much as they could through observing them. There are no doubt more of them as that mosque is one on the most radical in the country.

'Well, I must say that after watching two of this countrys biggest building collapse killing 3000 people, caused by our own giant jet aircraft slamming into them and the Pentagon, I think we got Israel beat as far as who has suffered biggest terrorist attack. Not to mention the economic fallout....'

Thanks for saying that Joe, I don't care for the distractions -- The USA is under seige . . .

I also find it distasteful. But, my radar goes up when NO major news networks has had any interviews with families of these multiple shootings

I've seen family members interviewed on Donawho and Dateline.

Thought provoking items:

1. In the Oregon guys weapons cache was the single 223 casing.

2. The two brothers (Bilal) were raised in a large, strict Muslim household in Maryland (The parents are now in Saudi Arabia???)

3. The indictment was dated October 3rd (last Thursday).

Some Sundays after Church, my old man would kill a chicken for Sunday dinner. After the head is cut off, you want it to run around and drain the blood. Then you hold it upside down and finish it off. After that, my mother soaked it in boiling water, and one of us kids had to pluck it. ( I will throw up to this day thinking about it). Then the old man held up his lighter and burned off the pinfeathers. then my mother fried it up in lard, and then we ate it, all 8 of us with mashed pototoes and vegetables. (When he killed our pets, I began to wonder about the old man.)

I do agree they are thought provoking and I hope none of those details have escaped the notice of some team assigned to this case. Goodnight all...

Could this be a test-run for additional areas of the country? Does it have the markers of a scenario that could be added as a "copycat" for an additional area or (areas) if so, when will some solid conclusions be drawn.....if ever?

maybe..... but if not Im sure there getting lots of ideas and are watching this situation closely.

Grandpa cut the head off. My grandmother (other side of family) broke the chickens neck.

My 12 year old brother and I went to the market, got a chicken and decided to do it in. We broke it's neck and hung it on the clothesline down cellar.

Lo and behold, we heard clucking and broke it's neck AGAIN!!

After running up and down the steps a few times, breaking it's neck again and again, we took serious action and cut it's head off.

Decided Grandpa's method was the "step saver" method.

LOL. Here's a worse one.

I was about 4, had three older brothers and sisters. They had a game where they chased the chickens into the outhouse. The poor chickens ran in, then got up on a shelf. Well one day, i ran in trying to save the chickens, and my older sister pulls the board out from under them, sending them, well, down the chute, so to speak. She hands me the board and runs out, and there I am standing, when the old man walks in.

Again, welcome. Researching geneology can be fascinating. Callers on WMAL now talking about a pattern forming; one speculating that it's a fibinacci (sp) spiral and another psychologist saying the killer's marking out an enlarging area because of his delusions of grandeur -- increasing his area of power. Also mentioning possible significance of Michael's stores. The psychologist can't help lamenting the fact Virginia doesn't register long guns or "this crime would be solved by now."

My daughter, who lives up in Fairfax, and I brain-stormed it the other day. We came up empty.

I was originally thinking a terrorist, but now I'm not so sure. Could be a goof-ball.

It is definitely frightening. We went for a Starbucks in a shopping center where there is a Michaels. I am not not prone to worrying or to being paranoid, but you do think about it.
