"I wonder how many Christians understand "Forgive us our trespasses..."?

Gee whiz Carry, Christians are allowed to have strong opinions, and yes we all forgive this kid for his stupidity, even though whoever filled his head with this nonsense is even guiltier than he is.

Also, the bible has quite a bit to say about respecting people's property rights, so I think the forgiveness in this case has to come from God. The "forgive us our trespasses" line you quoted is a line from the Lord's prayer,... a prayer to God. My forgiveness isn't what he needs, cause he won't be answering to me.

>How come it's never the leaders of these movements who endanger themselves by sitting in trees? They brainwash these kids to do their dirty work for them while they do the "important" stuff like recruiting more kids, I guess.

I guess someone has to stay behind and count the money.

That's not how it reads. Consider the Law as a description of reality rather than an admonishment to an unattainable ideal. It is, after all, Natural Law. You WILL be forgiven as you find it in your heart to forgive; you DO love your neighbor as yourself. I see it all over the place. That's just how it works, although it isn't always obvious.

Now that doesn't mean that I won't hold perps accountable because I fear God. It does mean that I will do so as I would be willing to be treated had I done the same. There's nothing wrong with that. I will judge as I would be willing to be Judged.

The "forgive us our trespasses" line you quoted is a line from the Lord's prayer,... a prayer to God. My forgiveness isn't what he needs, cause he won't be answering to me.

No, you will be answering to God as you have answered the acts of others. That's what it says. To be as just and merciful as you are able does not mean that you let people walk all over you. It means that one should consider dispassionately the best that can be done because it's simply all you can do. A loving God would ask no more.

You got that right. There are some monsters out there who deserve a real horsewhipping.

Thanks for the ping, madfly. My brother and I, who both loved tree climbing and tree house-building when we were kids, never, ever fell out of a tree.

That proves it's only children who have the skills to sit in trees safely.

"now just who does a tree sitter sue? Mother nature?" This is who they can sue

What a marvelous idea!

You can cut your own trees as long as the material is to be used on your own property. You can send it out for milling, or have it milled on site. Such harvests are not considered commercial.

In my area, you can't cut certain trees.... permit or not. Matter of fact, you hit one by accident with your backhoe you get a $5,000 fine.

I also posted this additional info on another thread about this:

Robin (last name unknown), called in the woods by the name Naya, had just arrived in Santa Cruz from Arcata, CA where he may have been involved with direct action in the Mattole area of Humboldt county. He was eager to go to the forest and defend against logging that would harm Steelhead Trout at the southern end of the coastal redwood forests. He was found Tuesday night by employees of Redwood Empire at the base of "Esparanza," the tree he had been sitting in for about 12 hours. He was taken by helicopter to Valley Medical Center in San Jose where he died earlier today. He would have been 22 years old on Thursday, 10 October. While he enjoyed rock-climbing, this was Naya's first treesit.

The location of the treesit, the Ramsey 2 Timber Harvest Plan in southern Santa Cruz county near Corallitos, is opposed by many local environmentalists, federal, state and county agencies. Santa Cruz Earth First! has been activiely defending Ramsey Gulch and nearby Gamecock Canyon for almost 7 years. The treesits in Ramsey 2 THP were established almost 2 months ago in the area where logging is going on.

Santa Cruz Earth First! activists met quietly tonight to talk over the situation in Ramsey Gulch and morn the loss of a fine, young forest defender. A public Memorial Gathering will be held on October 18 or 19, 2002 at a location to be announced.

Since you enjoyed Part 1:

The Tress Reply: Part Deux

My goodness, another one bought the ranch,
haven't learned not to sit upon my branch
without a brace,
that they'll fly through space,
his friends are in a funk,
as he lays at my trunk,
oops, did I just see him squirm?
nah, that was just a worm

Don't they know I'm very old,
that I have to go,
so other mays grow,
the morons say, no

Oh well, not to worry,
if they do it again,
they'll be sorry,
the fools rub against my grain

They did not heed my first reply,
seems that they want to die,
they continue to mess with Mother Nature,
promoting their pseudo-science,
getting the legislature,
to punish those who are defiant,
and self-reliant

I normally hate to see people die, but this clown was brain dead a long time ago. Good to see another of the green al-quaida lose one.
