I agree. If I was the shooter,I'd be armed to the teeth for a major shootemup with the Police if I was spotted.

Press conference at 6:10 pm..link to be announced between the VA Manassas shooting and the sniper shootings.

Also Channel 7 is now talking about I270..Police were called by female as reported in above posts.....Now showing the man in the blue truck..taken into custody, sitting in cop car...Suddenly they are now talking about the FBI taking over the investigation......???? Nothing further about the I 270 incident!!!! Talk about half-assed reporting!

Wife just called and said to make sure I filled up both cars today.

Sounds like a good idea: (1) Sniper may have difficulty setting up another shooting scene fast enough to shoot today. (2) It's raining today.

Myself, I'm going to take care to get gas only on military bases for as long as this goes on.

But running around with long guns might get a little dicey right now.

Sure would put a damper on his MO. Not to mention what it would do to common criminals.

A reward like that is like an open invitation, Isn't it?

As someone who's been married nearly 36 years, I can vouch for that ..... and even admit that it's a 2 way street ...... :-)

An occasional "Please" and "Thank You" don't hurt either.

When the foliage/leaves start falling, this sniper will have slim pickings. I'm hoping he'll be caught and killed soonest.

This would be totally the opposite of his previous actions wouldn't it?

Yes. I also think that if the color looked like white to others it would have looked white to those who reported it today. I was just making observation.

I doubt it - shooting in the rain was my favorite in Country. The rain covers noise and people are no where near a observant. Also, makes a hit easier to see from the water splatter.

There are some common sense methods to use while in gas stations. One is to position your car so that it is between you and the major roadway during a fill-up. Also keep the door open while filling. It might deflect a shot. Use the auto-fill feature until it clicks off, then get out and move quickly.

If you have to shop at Michael's, position your vehicle so the driver's door opens toward the store entrance. That way the car will be between you and the building and provide some protection. If you have to load a minivan in a grocery store lot, position the van so that the rear door (or slider) is opposite the major highway, as much as possible. Your back should be toward buildings when loading, not the highway or open spaces.

If this goes on, all gas stations will be military bases! In the meantime, that sounds like an excellent idea as long as the base gas station isnt' within rifle range and line of site of the "outside".

Was not in the form of an announcement..more in passing commentary, kind of like it is looking like this could very well take place, then showed MOOSE responding to question about who should be running it..sorry I can't be more precise, I was busy writing on the topic of the guy in blue truck when they switched to this subject, it was very sloppy delivery..

I thank you for your breaking news. Just ignore the ribbing from people who have nothing to offer. My daughter and her family live in VA, and I'm quite worried about all of them. They drive these routes often.

Sharing your concern! My daughter and her two pre-schoolers were at the same service station where last night's shooting occurred about 45 minutes before the sniper attack.

Road rage used to involve shooting in Texas when I lived there all the time. Houston freeways were dangerous in a traffic jam -- and this was BEFORE it was legal to carry a concealed weapon there.

That's too bad. I live very close to the Bowie shooting, and I work in Arlington. I've been hiding inside as much as possible. This scares me more than 9/11. What if we catch the guy, but have "copy-cat" crimes? It's a scary world right now.

Got gas at Walter Reed a few days ago. Felt all safe until I heard a train whistle. Remembered at the edge of the base (near the gas station) there is a woods and train tracks. Duh.

Time to formulate Plan B.

I'll take sketchy information on the quick from a FReeper anyday over slow edited (read screened for political correctness)and spun information from any "mainstream" media source (all wrong at least half the time anyway, in my experience).

Sketchy is ok. False information in not.
