Is this guy shooting from a far distance, or are the press and folks calling him a sniper to get rid of guns like that in the future?
I'm not being rude, just haven't totally followed this at all.

According to the post, he shot the school kid from 150 meters with a .223. Hardly what a REAL sniper would call a long shot. One of my concerns is that the media IS using this to get the term "sniper" associated with guns.

Just a note of interest. ANY High Powered, high quality, huntung rifle (Remington Model 700, Winchester Model 70, or Weatherby) can be used for a "sniper" weapon. Most sniper rifles are in .308 Winchester (7.62MM NATO) or bigger, to the best of my knowledge.

Shooting range has been roughly between 100 and 200 yards.
