Went to the FLS site - thanks for the update. Drove home from work in Alexandria to home in Stafford and took Rt. 1 because 95 was a parking lot. I never noticed before just how many white vans with ladder racks there are. With the police presence I saw it is hard to imagine that the white van in question could make it through undetected if it contained the weapon and the driver and passenger fit the description apparently given. I am not a LEO so that is just MHO. The Marine Corps MPs were helping out local and state LEO's near MCB Quantico.

Thanks for the update seamus. Our schools are in total lock down. I have all 3 grandkids in school right now. Can't help but feel nervous about their safety until they all are home.

Done.

Sorry, but it is unlikely that they are out there, and it is certainly impossible that they have come HERE.It's almost like there might always be a white van of some sort in view in any congested area. Maybe it's just coincidence, and of course once the seed is planted, any white van is going to jump out in a witness' mind.
On the other hand, I kind of like the multiple theory above.
Tin foil hat time.

I heard on my local radio station today a retired military sniper had what seemed to be some good advice.
He said that when pumping gas, just don't stand there, move about so the sniper can't get a fix on you. Might help. I have close friends that live in the area and I think of them everyday.

It's a terrible thing to have to think about, but what kind of clothing could people wear to make them less of a target? Dark colors? What color clothing were the victims wearing? Maybe it's worth discussing.

Zig zag and stay low :o) ......this is getting sad. I remember the big city Boy Scouts that were taught how to take cover when drivebys were the threat of the moment.
I know the post was serious but a good shooter will still put it right eye or left eye at 200 meters moving or not.

There was one report was of a white van bumping other vehicles on I95. After checking it out, police said it appears the driver simply panicked because he was afraid of being shot himself.Hmmmm. This sounds devilishly clever to me. It reminds me of the scene in "Die Hard" when the actual terrorist fooled Willis into believing he was merely another hostage.

Fredericksburg is a good newspaper but I don't guess seamus told you that most here would still find it too liberal for their tastes. Thing is, believe it or not, you CAN have a "liberal" or relatively liberal editorial slant and still have a good NEWS department.

He's pretty good, but that Donnie Johnson character is a bit too much sometimes.
