I'm probably behind the curve here, but I remember hearing a story about the amazing ability trained bloodhounds have to follow a scent for many miles, even if the person is driving/riding in a vehicle.
FWIW.

I find it liberal but it covers our local area much better than the Wash. Post and Times when it comes to "news you can use" (I subscribe to both). That said my wife is renewing our subsription to the FLS. You guys put me in a dilemna last spring - inviting me to a luncheon honoring "noteworthy" letters to the editor (one I wrote on 11 Sept - printed 12 Sept - 2001). Last time I looked the letter is still on the FLS site. The luncheon was on the same day and at the same time as a DC Chapter meeting to do the final planning for the Patriots Rally. I had to go to the meeting. Sorry to get off topic - thanks for doing such a good job.

Actually the liberals around here don't like the Free Lance Star. They call it the Free Slant Star.

Ah. I remember that letter well. Too bad you couldn't make the luncheon. It's a real honor, and you missed out on some nice chicken salad croissants.
But in what way is the paper "too liberal." If you fault us for using liberal AP wire copy for national and international news, there's not much we can do about that.

I thought ballistic tests of the bullets tied them all to one gun, excpet for the 2 bullets that were too fragmented to prove conclusive.

The anti-gunners seem to be cheering this guy on.
Each day they drool at the prospect of another hit for their cause. Have you folks seen these people on TV? They're salivating!

WTOP is reporting that some homes are being searched in case they pulled off - no residences near Four-Mile Fork but this is probably along Rt. 1 away from the area. My daughter just called - not only was her high school under lock-down they placed them in the locker-room for four hours. This is over-doing it a bit.

here is a theory I have... he lies in wait for a white van to be stopped at a traffic light, just before the light turns green, he already has a victim scoped out and fires.
Every witness immediately looks for a white van, because they all have heard about a white van being at the scene of several of these shootings... this gives him time to calmly leave his hiding spot and get into his vehicle

I agree that your paper is an excellent one for news coverage. You had the best coverage on Richard Evonitz, the serial killer, and also on the Ocean City, Md. case of the double homicide in a hotel. Your crime coverage is the best--detailed and accurate.

WTOP - no evidence of shots in PG County - MD - they are monitoring police scanners - hundreds of these type calls coming in... Major Smith (Spotsy Sherrif)says not sure if white van is linked to shooter...

suspect: a white male with black or dark brown hair Well, I'll leap to the conjecture (based on almost no good information) that dark hair could mean a something like a swarthy Mediterranean complexion...
For those out of area and so inclined, you can listen to the DC Metro area's 24 hr radio news station online at
www.wtopnews.com - they are quite good and have reporters on the scene...

WTOP - bus routes will be late along Rt. 1, I 95 and I 66 - do not be concerned if children are late..

the creativity just abounds!!

I don't know which is the "active" thread on this subject, but anyone have info on the "graphic aid" the local LEO's were going to issue today? I haven't seen it yet.
