Sounds like Laskar Jihad. Those cheesebags are totally brutal, especially to Christians. They like to hack up unarmed Christians with machetes.

Free, peace-loving people throughout the world had better wake up. These fundamentalists must be ripped up and anihilated. Keep at it until they finally stand down. Exterminate the gene pool if necessary.

You must have been in Lombok after they had all of their trouble. I had friends in Lombok who fled - literally they ran for their lives - to Bali.

Bali's tourism provides incentive for the Indonesian government to try to make sure that Bali remains free from violence. These bombs send a huge message that things are more out of control than ever.

BTW, I've been to Bali twice, for a week each time, but only went to Kuta for half a day once each time. The rest of the time I was staying with Indonesian friends in Denpasar. Maybe it's the Hindu influence, but Bali seems so much more peaceful than what you hear about other places in Indonesia and I'm really saddened by this violence because it's like a sanctuary of some kind has been invaded.

Germany

Earth to Germany too.

Though Germany may be too many light years from Earth to get the message.

Bastards!

It's interesting how low-key the reporting on this has been so far. This is a major terrorist attack, and it barely registers in the news broadcasts I've seen tonight.

That's weird... you'd think, since Indonesia is 85% Muslim, it would be one of the most peaceful places on earth....

Sydney Morning Herald

The death toll in the Bali nightclub bombing rose today to 150, according to a hospital official.

Reuters reports that Sanga Hospital communications chief Dr Puta Putra Wisade estimated some 75 per cent of the dead from the Sari nightclub at Kuta beach were foreigners. "There are 150 dead," he said.

A second bomb exploded about 100 metres from the US consular office in Denpasar, the capital of Bali, said Lieutenant Colonel Yatim Suyatno, a police spokesman.

There was no damage at the consular office and no casualties were reported from the blast, which occurred at 11.05pm yesterday (0105 Sunday AEST), he said.

"This is the worst act of terror in Indonesia's history," General Da'i Bachtiar said in Jakarta.

"We have to be more alert for other acts of terror including international terrorism in the future."

In Canberra, Australia's Foreign Minister Alexander Downer said: "It looks as though this was a terrorist attack".

"It's hard to believe there could be any other explanation for it. There were two bombs that went off in Bali at approximately the same time," he said on Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) television.

The first bomb destroyed the Sari Club, a popular nightspot frequented by foreigners in the resort of Kuta Beach.

"We have received 110 bodies so far," said Molin Yudiasa a doctor at Denpassar's main Sanghlah Hospital.

Police said many foreigners were among the dead but their identities and nationalities were not available.

Police had no immediate motive for the blasts, which occurred nearly simultaneously.

"We don't know if these blasts are connected," said a US Embassy spokeswoman in Jakarta who declined to be identified.

She said she didn't know if there were any Americans among the casualties.

The blasts come amid increasing fears by the United States and others that Indonesia, the world's most populous Muslim nation, is becoming a safe haven for terrorists and that al-Qaeda operatives are active there.

The explosion at the Sari Club was accompanied by a large fire that engulfed another nightclub nearby, eyewitnesses said.

Several other buildings on the same block and a dozen cars were badly damaged by the blast and fire.

"This is a major terrorist attack, and it barely registers in the news broadcasts I've seen tonight."

I'm getting more from the internet than I am from the so-called 24 hour news channels tonight. That's outrageous, but not all that unusual.

"Bastards!"

You won't get an argument from me on that!

Hopefully, this story is getting lots of play in Europe and Australia ... they need to wake up even more than we do.

They don't have their thinking caps on, do they?

I'd hate to seem to be promoting commies, but Vietnam is a lot nicer (great resorts at Nha Trang and Danang), cheaper and safer. By and large, the Vietnamese love Americans.

BOTTOM LINE:

Jihadist Muslims have just killed tourism in majority Hindu Bali. This hurts the Hindus the most who depend on the tourist business.  These destructo robots of Islam seek to ruin anything that's good and fun.

Really, it's not so weird at all--the island of Bali itself is predominantly non-Moslem, unlike the rest of Indonesia. That's why it was attacked.

Remember, the goal of Oslima was to wreck the economy of the USA. He feels that if our economic power is gone then the world's masses would not be seduced by the dollar. If the radicals ruin Indonesia's economy in the process, destroy the lives of Hindus, Christians and secular Muslims, then all of these tactics are valid, even proper, so long as they reach their goal of a pure Muslim theocracy.

The Muslim radicals can't beat us militarily, so they go after soft targets. It is the same concept as the Khmer Rouge in Cambodia, Mao in China, Shining Path in Peru all have. Throw out the Western imperialists, and the peasants will see much more clearly how this extreme brand of liberation theology is their salvation.

I no longer see much difference between the politics of Mao, and the theology of Oslima. Al Queda is this generations' Communist party, wrapped up in religious garb. Exactly what is the difference between the goals of the Khmer Rouge or the Shining Path, and these radicals, except the name of their spiritual leaders?

I was in Bali Apr02 to support a USN ship visit. I hope that we did not have any ships in port. The USN uses Bali for R&R. The atmosphere is like Spring Break in Daytona, party all night. It has a great Hard Rock Cafe. On the way back from the Gulf to CA you can stop there without going through the narrow straits...like if you went to Singapore or Hong Kong. One thing I took away from my visit. The Balinese are very peaceful...but if their peaceful economy is threatened, their reprisals will be swift and brutal. Any outside Muslim trying to leave the island better do so by private boat...the ports and airport will be looking for them. It's really a shame that this had to happen, but expect more "soft" targets in the future. The bomb at the consulate is really symbolic. The guy there is only part time and the place is really small...no Marine Guards. Semper Fidelis.

Fox had a pretty decent report about this in their 10 pm ET program with Rita Cosby. A fair amount of footage of the fires, as well as of some of the victims in a hospital ward, and they kept running it several times along with a list of some of the names.

Very good and relevant points you made. I am beginning to see more and more the similarities between communism and islam. Same game different names.
