Hopefully, this story is getting lots of play in Europe and Australia ... they need to wake up even more than we do. I think most in Australia are pretty much aware. About 15 years ago, I was having a conversation on world affairs with a cousin from Australia. She commented that she had no idea why Americans were so worried about what the Russians might do -- that is was the Muslims that we should be worried about. I had no idea why she felt that way at the time. Fifteen years ago, but now I understand all too well.

I guess it is safe to say, that we will have some more enthusiastic partners in our war on terror, calling W up tonight and tomorrow, crying for help.
Cannot help it dennis... but I am thinking the only solution is... (youve got mail)

Sure, maybe they'll run it again, but mostly on Sat. night, there's not much live news that seems to be available. We'll have to depend on the web.

The only place that I have seen anything about this is on FNC. However, there has been much more on the 'net.
"MSNBC just has the John Siganthauler tapes on."
That's par for the course.
To: kristinn
I've been going to several news sites. FNC has had updates, but they aren't as fast as the 'net. Of course, what is? lol

I have friends living in Papua and the following is from a recent e-mail:
"Central Sulawesi, Maluka and Papua provinces of Eastern Indonesia have been infiltrated by large numbers of Laskar Jihad and foreign mujahadeen.
In all three provinces, Indonesian military appear to be either directly involved or at least complicit in violence and Christians are greatly at risk of both Jihad and military assaults. The situation in cental Sulawesi is extremely intense."
In Malaku, on Sept., 5 a bomb exploded a bomb exploded at a sports stadium and two jr. high girls were killed along with two others and several wounded.
On Sept.8, two Muslim girls, 12 and 13 and a 27 yr. old pregnant woman collecting shells on the beach were hit with machine gunfire from a speedboat. In Ambon, Muslims rioted in response to a rumor that Christians did it. Rioters held up cars and attacked Christians with stones. Eventually a cab driver died, burned alive in his torched car.
"In Papua tensions are high where a convoy of predominately American teachers from an International School were fatally attacked. Authorities blamed Papuan separatists even though Indonesian military issue automatic weapons were used and the convoy was attacked in a secure area without any security post being breached. There have been a huge number of Laskar Jihad troops in Papua since April 2002 and reports allege that they operate with full support of the Indonesian police and military.
Statistically, 90% of Papuans are Christian."
I left a bit out because it was so long but not much.

I wonder how much time Tim Russert will give this on Meet the Press. Thirty seconds, maybe?

Thirty seconds? I doubt ol' Timmy will even mention it. That would take time away from his dem bush basher of the week.

....that it was the Muslims that we should be worried about. I had no idea why she felt that way at the time. Fifteen years ago, but now I understand all too well. Yes...your cousin knew.
My parents, Christians from the Middle East, used to say similar things about the Muslims while I was growing up. I didn't understand either, until 911. But then many of their relatives... and my fathers immediate family were killed by the Muslims. However, a caring Muslim family saved my mother and grandmother from death by protecting them in their basement.

I don't hear any Americans among the dead. Doesn't matter, then.

This is the worst act of terror in Indonesia's history," Gen. Da'i Bachtiar, the national police chief, told reporters at the site of the blast. "We have to be more alert for other acts of terror."
He said 171 people were confirmed killed.
