Cleric calls for seizure of dogs and their owners

TEHRAN, Oct 13 (AFP) - A conservative Iranian prayer leader denounced the "moral depravity" of dog ownership and called on the judiciary to arrest all dogs and their owners, the reformist Etemad paper reported Sunday.

"I demand the judiciary arrest all dogs with long, medium or short legs together with their long-legged owners, otherwise I will arrest them myself", the Etemad newspaper quoted the cleric, named as Hojatoleslam Hasani, as saying at a Friday prayer sermon in the northwestern city of Urumieh.

"The abominable people in this country think that liberty means loose morals, for example men and women walk in the streets hand in hand", he added.

Depsite official diapproval of dogs, which are mostly referred to as "unclean" in Islam, dog ownership recently has been on the rise and more women are seen in public walking their dogs, particularly in northern Tehran.

In June the police banned the sale of dogs and stipulated penalties for dog walking in public, which is seen by conservatives as a sign of the corrupting influence of decadent Western culture.

Northern Tehran is the wealthier part of Tehran.

Which means what, exactly? They own bigger piles of rocks, dirt and rags than the poverty-stricken Southerners?

They've got fancier shops and restaurants, and they're much more unhappy about the restrictions imposed on life by the Islamic Republic.

A false one, IMHO. The dogs will stay; the mullahs will soon be gone.

If dogs are "unclean", what does that make the mulahs and prayer leaders? Bathing is considered an odd ritual, if not "sinful", and toilet paper is unheard of (they use the left hand - the right is for eating - really!).

However, I can understand their objections. Dogs are loyal to their owners; that is the right of the Islamic leaders to have slavishly loyal servants - the peasants!

Even little bitty dogs will run under a Mullah's dress and bite him on his itty bitty thingamabob.

Good grief! By now, everybody knows that proud, self-respecting Islamowacks disapprove of dogs; they greatly (ahem) "prefer" goats, of course. Really cute, affectionate goats. Just another indication of their superior culture, donchya know?

Dogs with no legs at all aren't very popular pets. "Fetch the stick" takes hours...

From the hadith of Sahih Bukhari:

Volume 4, Book 54, Number 539:
Narrated Abu Talha:
The Prophet said, "Angels do not enter a house witch has either a dog or a picture in it."

Volume 4, Book 54, Number 540:
Narrated 'Abdullah bin 'Umar:
Allah's Apostle ordered that the dogs should be killed.

This helps to explain a lot about the Muzzies; since they apparently offed all their intellectuals early in the game...

We do agree for the most part. The only good Muslims are the ones who don't really know/believe what their religion teaches and what Mohammed really was.

And unlike Jerry Falwell I ain't gonna backtrack.
