Once considered the errant, unruly stepchild of education, homeschooling has begun to emerge as a viable option. Homeschoolers are no longer perceived as weird educational outcasts who couldn't cut it in the traditional classroom. And the reason is clear. Homeschoolers demonstrate many of the desirable characteristics educators hope to instill in their students: social adaptability and academic acuity.

thanks for posting this.
My 13-year old son, homeschooled from the beginning, uses college-level materials and shows a strong interest in American history, a clear, intelligent writing style, and agreat grasp of algebra. He is an accomplished violinist, an award-winning gymnast, and best of all is a really polite, cleancut kid who looks adults in the eye when addressed. I do not attribute these accomplishments to any innate genius on the part of my child(much as I want to point to heredity!), but to the opportunities presented to him via home schooling.
I know a many people with 13-year old boys in public school; all fall short of this description.

Once considered the errant, unruly stepchild of education, homeschooling has begun to emerge as a viable option. Has begun to emerge? Bwaaahaaaahaaahaaa!
"Homeschoolers have the highest SAT and ACT scores, higher than private or public schools," said Rebecca Kochenderfer, author of "Homeschooling for Success." "The average homeschooler, by the eighth grade, is doing 12th grade work."
That's not to say private and public schools don't offer a quality education, Kochenderfer, a former special education teacher, added.
Bwaaaahaaahaaaahaaaaa! Oh, stop it, please! My sides are hurting! Snort!! 8-)

It makes you wonder how much of our children's potential has been lost because of the NEA-controlled government school system.
