VOTE 2002: Taxpayers League says group backs voter fraud
Pioneer Press ^ | Oct. 15, 2002 | Tom Webb

WASHINGTON — It's all in how you interpret the words: Is it a little campaign help or "one of the most transparent attempts to steal an election since the Daley machine ran Chicago politics"?

The national director of the Democratic Socialists of America says a press release about the group sending as many as two dozen young people to Minnesota this month to help the campaign of Sen. Paul Wellstone, D-Minn., has been misinterpreted.

The group says it intends to register young Minnesotans to vote, and to get them involved in the political process. Here's how it describes the Minnesota project on its Web site at www.dsausa.org/dsa.html:

"…We are mobilizing to bring young people to Minnesota. Minnesota is one of the few states that allow same-day voter registration. We will therefore focus our energy on registering young people. Wellstone will need a high percentage of young people to register and vote for him…"

But to the Taxpayer's League of Minnesota, those words suggest possible voter fraud. The league lashed out Monday at what it interpreted as an effort to import non-Minnesota students to falsely register as Minnesota voters. A league statement called it "one of the most transparent attempts to steal an election since the Daley machine ran Chicago politics."

"That's pretty ludicrous," replied Frank Llewellyn, national director of the Democratic Socialists of America. "We don't do illegal things. … We're not asking people from outside Minnesota to move to Minnesota, change their registration and vote. We're encouraging people who already live in Minnesota to register and vote."

Llewellyn said he wrote the Web site blurb, and scoffed at the Taxpayers League interpretation of a voter-registration effort. "I'm not used to having people deconstruct every word for the worst possible interpretation," he said.

Here's the DSA propaganda:

Democratic Socialists of America

The Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) is the largest socialist organization in the United States, and the principal U.S. affiliate of the Socialist International (also in Francais and Espanol). DSA's members are building progressive movements for social change while establishing an openly socialist presence in American communities and politics.

You may want to look at their links. They used to link to the Progressive house caucus, but I notice that link is "broken" now.

Corrine Brown of Fl is a member of Democratic Socialists and so is Barbara Lee and Cynthia McKinney.

Didn't I see an article not too long ago about how registering to vote in a state other than where you receive your financial aid will result in loosing that aid? Did anyone else see that?

The real lie here is the Democrat socialists will not tell the real truth to the people they are trying to register: Trying to banish the US Constitution.

If they intend to register people who already live in Minnesota, why do they talk about bringing them in from outside?

Not ONLY bringing them in from outside but are looking for donations for TRANSPORTATION and STIPENED EXPENSES. They say HOUSING is being donated.

This is simply an attempt at massive voter fraud. Plain and Simple!

See what your little find has grown into? It's getting onto FoxNews now!

http://www.newsmax.com/showinsidecover.shtml?a=2002/10/15/184934

Send a Vote Thief to Minnesota!

An outfit that calls itself Democratic
Socialists of America is trying to exploit
oh-so-liberal Minnesota's lax (i.e.,
fraud-abetting) election laws by shipping in
left-wing students to vote for Sen. Paul
Wellstone, D-Minn.

"Send A Student To Minnesota!" DSA urges.

"DSA’s national electoral project this year is
the Minnesota Senate Election. Together with
YDS, DSA’s Youth Section, we are mobilizing to
bring young people to Minnesota. Minnesota is
one of the few states that allow same day
voter registration. We will therefore focus
our energy on registering young people.

"Wellstone will need a high percentage of
young people to register and vote for him if
he is to stave off the campaign that Bush, the
Republicans and the Greens are waging against
him. He is the Right’s Number One electoral
target.

"Because we are focusing on issue-based voter
registration, this electoral work can be
supported by tax-deductible contributions. The
DSA FUND is soliciting tax-deductible
contributions to support this project.
Contributions are needed to underwrite the
costs of transportation as well as providing a
stipend for expenses; housing is being
donated. You can contribute online with a
Master Card or VISA," says DSA.

Just think: The little socialists can vote in
their home state, then fly to Minnesota and
vote for another DemoRat!

Several readers this week sent NewsMax this
tip, but we thought it was too outrageous to
be true until Fox News Channel confirmed it
this evening.

So: Admitted socialists are plotting sleaze to
help Wellstone rather than the socialistic
Green Party - isn't it left-wing enough for
them? Well, what can you expect from a lying
senator who incited a mob attack on a
"Republican" cameraman?

Will GOP Senate candidate Norm Coleman and the
Minnesota Republican Party stop this insanity?

P.S.: California and other states are
considering same-day voter registration, so
expect the Democrats' already-sickening amount
of election fraud to increase even more.
