So you are saying that the sniper is an invader or rebelling against the government?
Absolutely.
So what's your basis for this thesis? A feeling?

Forget the surveillance airplanes. Did you see the Will Smith, Gene Hackman movie, "Enemy of the State. Talk about cool spy satellites way up in the heavens, just waiting for law enforcement to send up requests for live shots of specific areas, zooming in on cars, even people. That's what I hope we've got to use against the sniper.

That would cover everyone recently converted to federal employment as airport security workers. There is an enormous workforce that is employed by the federal government. To assume that out of 10 victims only this one was targetted is absurd.

this is a signal of one thing only the government is scared to tell the public that they can't provide security
for the president, congress, or pentagon without taking further steps, and are worried terrorists are planning to attack the capital soon, or attempt to assasinate bush. there is a war going on here. we are not in danger of being overrun, but there is a clear and present danger to thousands of americans at any given time, including the president, congress, and our military center the pentigon as witnessed on september 11th

Is the DOD a militia? You said: Yes
The DOD is not a militia it is a bureaucracy that uses professional (mercenary) troops to do the fighting.
Are we facing an insurrection?
You said no.
However the time may be coming.
Is Bush doing anything to repel the Mexican invasion?
You said: Strawman.
Why not speak the truth? Bush wants to legalize illegal immigrants, particularly those from Mexico.

If they are going to use the high-tech military hardware, why not keep it a secret from the perp? Seems that the less the perp knows - the better. I agree with you. Now he/they know to shoot from fully inside the van/truck or from under some sort of cover, such as a parking garage, to shield the flash from the eye in the sky.

It doesn't matter how I feel DD, it's where the evidence is pointing. If the government suspects terrorists rather than the every day whack job, then Article 1 Section 8 is the Constitutional authority to use the surveillance flights and whats more they remain within the Posse Commitatus Act.
Sorry to disappoint you but there's no grand conspiracy to declare martial law there.
By the way, the shootings statred about the same time the terrorists hit the oil tanker, tried to assassinate embassy personnel in Jakarta and then there's Bali.
I ain't buying into the common ordinary day nutcase on this one. Too slick, too committed, victims have nothing in common but their Americanism.
I could be wrong but I don't think so.

Who wouldn't?
Call the Army?
Get real.

You think hunting for a possible (?probable) terrorist (dark skinned with a ChiCom AK-74) is subverting the Constitution?
To: Orion
It seems to me that there must be satellites constantly monitoring the DC area, if so why is not the tapes/photos of these taken and studied?

So you think the military should have been called in when "Son of Sam" was doing his thang? Lemme see.
He has been reported to be carrying a ChiCom version of the AK-74.
He has been reported to be dark skinned, possibly Hispanic or Middle Eastern.
More and more I suspect he isn't your ordinary schizophrenic.....
Yeah, bring out the National Guard and everything we've got.
To: ChocChipCookie
True. Also, what about the potential for threats and bribes to our legislators? Could it be possible to contact those legislators and threaten the lives of their children if they did not "act" as the terrorist wishes on legislation, or other facets of their power?
We know this is terrorism by someone. If there is no problem with killing innocent people, how large a step to killing the kin of the power brokers?
I think this is one reason we are seeing the big guns being pulled out.

...or attempt to assasinate bush... I think Ari Fleischer's statement about one bullet was very foolish, as is our newly announced policy of preemption. We are telling the world that assassination and preemptive attacks are our policy, why won't other nations follow our lead?
