My gut says the same thing.
Perhaps a Black Muslim (converted) originally from the Caribbean? Former Armed forces vet?
Isn't (wasn't) there nearby a stronghold of black muslims who had links to the middle east? Some camps, villages, or the like?

Now, the only thing I am curious about now is if this guy was homeless and living out of his car, how did he keep up with the news Cars have this little thing called a radio. Large turnpike reststops frequently have TVs turned to CNN. And many bars and restaraunts have TVs turned on

Is it time to bring in psychics to solve the DC area sniper case?It might be time now. If they've been watching the news, they have an outside chance of figuring out the case.
