Man Arrested in Sniper Case

By TOM HAYS
Associated Press Writer

ROCKVILLE, Md. (AP) — Maryland prosecutors filed the first murder charges against two suspected snipers, and authorities Saturday arrested a man believed to be connected to the suspects — more signals that a three-week killing spree that terrorized the Washington area has ended.

The man arrested Saturday in Flint, Mich., was believed to have helped the two suspects buy the car authorities believe was used in the attacks.

Linda Vizi, a spokeswoman from the FBI's Philadelphia office, said Nathanel O. Osbourne was arrested this morning without incident in Flint.

It was Mohammed's brother rather than Malvo's.

CNN does have on it's news scroll that the FBI has arrested this guy in Flint, Michigan. We don't know whether or not his being there as anything to do with a big Moslem population. As I recall,Michigan has a big white supremist population as well, so I think it's best not speculate on this one.

(You can google.com "Tim McVeigh, Michigan" and come up with all sorts of information. )

The only thing that disturbs me about the alledged Islam connection is funding. If they were part of a larger conspiracy, wouldn't they be able to afford drive and live in something better than a $250 car? I don't think they are connected to Al Queda at all. From what we have seen so far, Al Queda terrorists are very well funded. That being said, Nation of Islam is more of a low rent organization. While the leaders have money, the average NOI member is dirt poor. I think these screwballs came up with this all on their own.

Isn't Michael Moore also from Flint? (the truth comes out -- he's a terrorist!)

Michigan has far more Arabs than just the 170K Muslims you mention. We also have a very large number of Christian Arabs as well. In fact, its my impression that until fairly recently, a majority of Michigan Arabs were actually Christian. I'm not certain of the exact proportions; perhaps there is a native Dearbornite around to elucidate.

Yes, Johnnie Muhammad and McVeigh served in the Army. However most servicemen are decent people and patriotic. I can not say the same for memers of the N.O.I.

And if we put on our tinfoil hats we could draw a McVeigh connection to AQ.

All I am saying is that their is a world wide Islamic uprising and the Jihadists will not necessary be Palestinians or Saudi Arabians.

Same with the Mideast/Asia Minor/North Africa.
Then along came Mohammed and his followers and slaughtered them.

In fairness to all sides, there is a difference between assuming a moslem connection and noting that the possibility of such a connection is consistent with the facts as we know them.

08:23 PDT ROCKVILLE, Md. (AP) --  Maryland prosecutors filed the first murder charges in the 13 sniper attacks that have terrorized the Washington area, and authorities Saturday tracked down the co-owner of a blue Chevrolet Caprice in which the two suspects were arrested.

The man arrested Saturday was believed to have helped the two suspects buy the car, which was registered in New Jersey. Authorities say a hole had been bored in the trunk from which the snipers may have fired on their unsuspecting victims.

FBI spokeswoman Linda Vizi said Nathaniel O. Osbourne was arrested Saturday in Flint, Mich. No further details were immediately available.

Remember that assumptions had the cops looking for white guys, Freepers looking of Arabs, and no one looking for two black guys wanting to get rich.

I was looking at Muslims. The assumption I had that radical Muslims could not be ruled out since the shootings were before or after prayer times (the radicals stop everything to pray, even war) appears to have been correct.

I tend to agree with you. I think these guys did it on their own but the Mohammed guy was heavily influenced by Nation of Islam NOT AL-Qaeda.

Former church now home to Islamic center
Missions are worship, interaction with others

November 19, 2001

A new Islamic center that plans to focus on interfaith cooperation among Muslims, Christians and Jews opened Sunday in Burton near Flint.

The As-Siddiq Institute and Mosque is housed in what was an Episcopal church for more than 50 years. The center will include a library with rare manuscripts and an adult learning center.

Among those who took part in opening ceremonies were its founder, Shaykh Muhammad Hisham Kabbani; a rabbi from Flint; the rector of the Episcopal church that once owned the mosque; a representative of Detroit Cardinal Adam Maida, and the assistant special agent in charge of the FBI in Detroit. Staff members representing U.S. Sen. Carl Levin, D-Mich., and U.S. Reps. Dale Kildee, D-Flint, and Mike Rogers, R-Brighton, also attended.

Kabbani, an Islamic scholar who came to the United States in 1991 from Lebanon, is chairman of the Islamic Supreme Council of America in Washington, D.C. He has appeared on television news shows condemning the Sept. 11 attacks and Muslim extremists. Kabbani owns a home near Flint.

The Rev. George Cleaves Jr. of St. Christopher's Episcopal Church in Grand Blanc said Sunday his congregation had outgrown its former home in Burton and moved out in August 2000.

"I'm delighted it will still be used as a house of prayer," he said. The church property was transferred to the As-Siddiq Institute and Mosque on Sept. 14.

Dr. Jammal Hammoud of the Flint Islamic Center said Sunday he hopes neighbors will welcome and visit the new mosque. In addition to Muslim worship, its mission is to interact with non-Muslims, he said.

"We'd like people to see the communality between Muslim, Christian and Jewish faiths and to make people aware of the true message of Islam, its peacefulness," he said.

Hammoud said the Flint Islamic Center serves about 300 families on the west side of Flint and the new mosque will serve those on the east side.

That is where much of the Anthrax was mailed from I believe.

Correct. Interesting how the same suspect locations keep coming up, over and over: Washington state (home of James Ujaama); New Jersey (where the '93 WTC conspirators lived); Portland, Oregon (home to an al Quaeda cell, and where Muhammad served briefly in the National Guard, although he lived in Washington); Miami, Florida (entry portal for Malvo, home of Jose Padilla, stomping grounds of 9/11 hijackers, destination of Richard Reid); Michigan (where one of the Portland al-Quaeda was arrested earlier this month, as well as Rabih Haddad, a co-founder of Global Relief Foundation)....

And these are just a few of the "incidents" in these locations. Pure coincidence, of course. (end sarcasm)

If he was influenced by the anti-white NOI, why did he kill black people? A broader Islamic motivation (or personal motivations) seem to make more sense.
