Jordan doesn't want them and won't tolerate them since they tried to take over that nation a few decades ago. For some reason, the rulers of Jordan have a problem with that. I can't imagine why....

I don't think Free Republic has a position. Posters, however, have many.

I wish I knew about this forum earlier :) Thanks. Most people at my school don't read any of my stuff. They shove it away. Also whenever I talk to them about Iraq they always bring up "Oh the US did that, oh the US did this" and then when I ask them if saddam is a terrorist, they don't want to answer it directly, which tells you they are really in favor of him to stay.

Yeah, its funny that these Arab countries say they are for the Palestinians, even tough many of them are rich with oil. Why don't they give money to the Palestinians to make "their suffering" of a lesser degree? Why? Because they use them as a tool. They use them for the cameras. They are suffering alright, but at the hands of the Arab states and their puppet terrorist, Arafat.

No official position by Free Republic, as you now know. My own position today as a person who had many, many doubts about the Jews and Israel is this.

The State of Israel and the Jews, do not threaten Western Civilization

I will say no more.

College Freshman? Must not have gone to H.S. around my neck of the woods.

The Israel-Hating Liberal Profs. at his College are in for a rough patch.

More to the point, what should be the position of the USA respecting Israel? Why should it be national policy to allign the nation against hundreds of millions of Arabs with all the best oil in the world and against more than a billion muslims? What does America gain from its support of Israel?

Don't give up. Just know that you are right and they are wrong. :) Also, you never know, you may even persuade some of the more sensible ones. I am glad to see that there are at least a few people like you on campuses, not just a bunch of bright, but brainwashed leftist drones.

It is not only a question of the US to respect Israel, it is also the question of the US supporting Israel. The US must be consistant in its actions as to its actions. It cannot state it is going after terrorists and telling Israel to restrain its forces, which occured in the beginning of the renewed war against terrorism. Furthermore the US should be supporting Israel and not trying to appease terrorist Arab states to support it on its military operation on Iraq. Doing so will be hypocratical. One the one hand you have nations which supposedly want to go after Saddam and on the other hand you have those states refusing to condemn terrorism against Israel by the Palestinians.

The US gains from supporting Israel a ally and a friend in a part of the world which is swarming with terrorists. Israel puts its soldiers, and has the resources to do so, at risk in attacking terrorists in its back yard so that the US doesn't need to send its own soldiers over there. We should thank Israel for that.

I actually have lived half my life outside the US in different countries, moving around. Lived in Israel, Italy, and communist China. Been to 3 different high schools.

Those professors are in for a rough patch. At that Anti-War on Iraq rally one of my goverment professors spoke. I knew he was one of them. In class I always argue with him about Israel.

Generally speaking Yonif, FreeRepublic allows it's participants to voice their opinions, and doesn't announe set policies on most issues. It does openly support a roll back of big government and a return to the founding principles as enumerated in the US Constitution.

I will never give up :) . Although they are "so for civilians life" they don't take into account that American civilian life is threatened by leaving Saddam in place and playing games with him and his terrorist regime.

I meant to mention that most Freepers support Israel. This is generally not an unconditional support. Like our own government, we reserve the right to disagree when circumstances warrant. Israeli citizens are able to make a change in leadership if they do not like the government's policies. This is unheard of in the middle-east. It is one of the main reasons why I support Israel.

You will almost never hear of Israel attacking Palestinians without cause. On a constant basis you will hear of Palestinians attacking Israeli citizens without cause.
