I don't know my Israel history as well as I should, but I understood the West Bank was actually Jordan and the Gazza was Egypt. When the Arabs got their panties in a knot they LOST these lands in 7 days. The people that lived in this land were only called Palestinians because they were located in an area called Palistine. There never has been a state or country called Palistine. The people were actually from Egypt and Jordan and oh yeah, I forgot Golan heights=Syria. When Israel made peace with these people that should be the end of it, but Araphat is a tin horn dictator that has injected himself into said conflict. He is not owed anything and I don't understand what is left to bargan for. The only thing I can figger is Syria,Egypt, and Jordan don't want the land back, just give it to the Palistinians because nobody wants them.

Any corrections in my thinking would be apreciated because I honestly havent taken the time to research the history. These are my perceptions.

yonif: "It is not only a question of the US to respect Israel, it is also the question of the US supporting Israel. ...Furthermore the US should be supporting Israel and not trying to appease terrorist Arab states to support it on its military operation on Iraq."

I agree. I also think that this is exactly what the Bush administration is doing. I think Bush is not asking the Arab states for help, he is TELLING them, that they have a choice "be with us, or with the terrorists", with all the consequences of these choices.

I also think the Bush administration is more pro-Israel, than any prior adminstrations. Just think how many times Clinton received Arafat, and treated him as equal or better than Israeli PMs, while Bush didn't even receive Arafat once, even prior to 9-11.

Bringing democracy to the Arab countries will significantly reduce the threat to Israel also.

It seems that collectively, FreeRepublic's position on Israel is that if you don't support it, then you are an obvious anti-semite. Of course, no one wants to be labeled an anti-semite, so naturally, we all support Israel.

Yeah, that brings up another point. West Bank, East Jerusalem, and Gaza were in the hands of Jordan, and Egypt before the so called "occupation" began after 1967. It brings forward the question why didn't the Arab states give these "Palestinians" a state when they had the land of their "brothers". In addition the word Palestinian is very flawed. It includes anyone who lived in that region which includes Jews as well.

The Arabs have lost and will always lose to Israel.

There seems to the minimal freedom of speech on FR like there is on Newsmax.. if FR doesn't like what you say you're deleted...Freedom of speech is discouraged to the extreme on here.

I disagree completely... I don't think that I've ever seen any thread or comments disappear that wasn't either abusive to individuals, institutions, or religions, or extreme flame-bait.

If you want to talk about lack of freedom of speech, take your views over to DU!

Remember, this isn't your board (or mine, for that matter). It belongs to JimRob, and he (and his little helpers) have the final word. The first amendment of the Constitution says that you have freedom of speech, meaning it's your right to say pretty much what ever you want. However that right isn't someone elses responsibility to make your views heard.

Well, I think Israel is handling the Palestinian issue completely wrong.
The Palestinians are an invading force and should be wiped out.
They have Jordan and many other Muslim nations, where they can make a life for themselves.
The Palestinian State issue was fabricated to destroy Israel.

Welcome to FR.

I hope to see you postings on other issues as well as on the Middle East.

I, Personally, am a strong supporter of Israel and have been since the early 70's when some Israeli college chums set me straight.

Freedom of speech is discouraged to the extreme on here.

You could try the nice folks at DemocRATic Underground. Say something unkind (but true) about liberals and see what happens.

The US gains from supporting Israel a ally and a friend in a part of the world which is swarming with terrorists. Israel puts its soldiers, and has the resources to do so, at risk in attacking terrorists in its back yard so that the US doesn't need to send its own soldiers over there. We should thank Israel for that.

Why is this area of the world swarming with terrorists? Is it because the US support for Israel creates such an asymetrical superiority in Israel over the Palestinians that the later, in their mindless fanaticism believe that they have no other effective weapons against F-16s and tanks financed or supplied through US support but terrorism?

Israel places it troops at risk suppressing Palistinian terrorsts not because of US support but because it perceives it in its own national interest to do so. And without US support it would continue to do so as long as it serves its national interest.

Now, because we support Israel to do what it would do anyway,ie place troops at risk to fight terrorists, we have become the victim of terrorist attacks and must place our toops at risk in Afganistan and, soon, in Irak to fight terrorists.

Is this what we get for our support of Israel? --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Why should it be national policy to allign the nation against hundreds of millions of Arabs with all the best oil in the world and against more than a billion muslims? "

Because most Muslims hate Americans and most Jews don't. Sheesh..... you aren't really that stupid are you?

If most Muslims hate America, why do they hate America? Perhaps because we support their enemy. Why do the Israelis not hate us? Because we support them.

Sheesh..........................

Nope, it's because we are not Muslim. Americans aren't the only ones they hate.

They are killing Hindus in India. Russians, French, neither of which support Israel. Black Animists and Christians in Sudan. Buddists, Austrailians, and other ordinary European tourists in Bali. These people don't support Israel.

Why then do the Muslims hate them? Because they are not Muslim. This isn't rocket science. I don't understand why it is so hard for people like you to grasp?

5 million Jews produce more, economically, scientifically, and socially then 600 million Arabs.

Militarily, I'd rather be on the side of 5 million angry Jews fighting for their lives, then 600 million Arabs fighting to slaughter them. We all know who would win.

Like they say, its quality, not quantity.

True enough, but how much oil do they produce?

Only if Isreal goes nuke. Otherwise it looks like a vortex. Why do we have to go down with them or go nuclear?

Nope, it's because we are not Muslim. Americans aren't the only ones they hate.

Nope, MOST muslims hate us, if MOST do, because we support Israel. A minority of crazed fundamendalists hate us because we are not muslim - They get cover and support from the majority of Muslims because of that support.

I hold no brief for the Mohammedian religion. I have been to their lands and seen what a wretched mess they have made.I want no part of it for my country. But that does not mean that we should mix in against them on Israel's behalf when no national interest is at stake.
