On another thread from yesterday, Jim Robinson said he and John were aware of the problem (re: access and slow response)and were working on it. As of that writing, the exact problem had not been identified.

Yes, access is either very slow ( I have dial ups on laptops that access other sites faster...) or rudely slow.

Ordinarily it would be blamed on being out here in the middle of the Pacific, but since you brought it up...

This seems to be a recurring problem over the last couple of weeks. Has FR outgrown itself?

Nah, it's not just being in the Pacific. I have much better access in general (except for this past week) here than I did in Texas, both with dial-up Earthlink connection as well as my usual, RoadRunner.

Yes, it has been like this for the last few weeks. Sometimes the response time is fine. I am on a T1 node and it just took 50 seconds to get to this reply screen. I also, just received a time out attempting to post this.

YES and it's beyond irritating. I've got to find somewhere else to watch election returns and posts. This will make me crazy on election night.

Jim Robinson probably needs more band width. He could get an OC12 ACCU-Ring for the site and that should solve FR's access problems.

Very, very slow. Timing out on my system. Unusable. Took me three attempts to reply to your post.

I dropped a letter in the mail to them about it. Figure that will get there faster than a message through the site.

Hope they fix it.

Yes, it's been either slow (getting this whole Post page took the entire time taken by the Harkin "For Paul" disgrace on Rush's show) or 404'd. And I have high-volume DSL. Good luck, Jim and John - we're thinking good thoughts for you and the system!

What makes it much more frustrating compared to past problems over the years is the paucity of information at that blasted Yahoo! contingency site as to what's going on. Even if the cause is elusively unknown, it would be nice to have a more frequent "we're working on it, gang" message posted.
