Some pretty interesting comments by all. Some predujiced comments by those ignorant of the style/message of the band he was in. It is easy to lump all black bands together as rap, and the word RAP is too stereotypical anyway.

Cameo was known as a RAP band, and most RAP music doesn't appeal to me at all. But WORD UP, by CAMEO, is one of my favorites.

There are RAP bands, some good, some decent. Then there are the NO TALENT, NO CLASS, pretend gangster, wannabe king, RAP groups that do nothing but scream B.S. and make musics videos where they get to star in their fantasy.

RUN DMC was not a gangsta rap music group. They HAD CLASS! I am for anyone that uses their medium (music in this case) to influence the lives of our children and teens, in a good way. And RunDMC tried to influence in a good way. Many non-black folks didn't understand or see the difference between RunDMC and many of these other FILTH-RAP groups.

My condolences to his family and friends and I hope they catch the person that did this and after a fair trial, sentence that person to death.

Rap is a bad influence on the minds of young people. If he's such a good man, then he would not be in a rap group.

BTW, the same kind of narrow minded comments were made about ROCK and ROLL and the Beatles.

Post 52: "The country is at war and you people worry about balck gangster rapists. Crazy!"

Post 103: "And I wish to know nothing about trashy, jungle noise."

Still broken up about William Pierce's passing, are you? That's okay, you can still wear your sheets in his honor. Difference between you and me however, is I don't equate all white, middle-aged, balding, impotent men as bigots simply based on my opinion of Pierce. Too bad you can't do the same.

"BTW, your user name says a lot about you."

Well, I hope your name isn't true, because it would mean that your kids are being taught to hate someone because of the color of their skin. Shame, shame, shame.

What kind of goofy comment is this? I suppose that all rock music is satanic, too? There is no logic at all in your comment. That's about on the same lines as saying that all black people steal, and in the same breath saying you're not racist.
This guy probably gave more money to charity than you ever have or will. I guess that makes him a bad person, also.

Heh heh. "yeah yeah, um, is this Kentucky Fried?
The lady said yes, smiled, and he smiled back.
He gave a quarter and his order.
Small fry, Big Mac!

You forgot The Beastie Boys

Raising Hell, and License to Ill were the first tapes I remember buying on my own. That Beastie Boys track was great stuff. They were one of the first groups to sample music like crazy. All of us white-boys were running around singing "U Be Illin", "It's Tricky", "You gotta fight for your right", "Brass Monkey", and "Paul Revere." heh heh

Crazy days of my crazy youth. I graduated HS the year Licensed to ILL came out. I was starting Audio Engineering school in NYC and used to listen to it on the bus everyday. All of the great Zeppelin samples and other awesome samples on that tape. What memories. What a party time that was.
