The damage to the Dems is done, and retaining the disparity leaves their duplicity for all to see, and none to excuse

Of course now many will go along with Ventura and say that the GOP would have done the same thing. So that will nullify any damage. You know it's the "everybody does it" canard that worked for Clinton.

"But that's like expecting us to be completely cynical and assume from the start that the Wellstone family and the Democrats are lying to us about what's going to happen."

And these guys are reporters??...where have their collective heads been through the entire Clintoon adminsitration??...go with you instincts kids.

Interestingly, he exactly described democrats, "lying to us about what's going to happen."

And I'm not buying this argument that it was all in the spirit of Paul Wellstone.

You know, I actually believe this. Wellstone was a doctrinaire liberal, a believer in theft in the name of "social justice," a big-government advocate who never saw a confiscatory program he didn't like, but even he had more class than that. Most adults do. Booing someone from the opposition who flies in to pay respects is worse than juvenile, it's disgusting. Booing someone ostensibly neutral who's going to name the deceased's replacement is worse still, it's arrogant and suicidally stupid.

For the record, I flipped around the channels following the Mondale Rally, and Don Shelby was easily the most fawning, clueless commentator of the bunch. He gave absolutely no hint that anything was wrong with what they had broadcast. Other anchors and channels made some comment about the way the memorial had switched to political rally (KARE, channel 11, the local NBC affiliate, had the best and most thorough commentary on the matter). But Shelby and WCCO carried on like nothing at all was wrong about the event.

Pretending now that he was shocked at the time is rather hard to believe. I suspect he was shocked by the reaction and is saying what is necessary to maintain his credibility.

"...the Republicans could not have done a better job of showing what a bunch of Clymers democrats are."

Hey, you have come up with something that the republicans should use from now on when dealing with democrats, just let the camera roll and stand back for the inevitable reaction to crassness.

Shining the glaring light on TRUTH!

Hoodwinked my foot. They were happy co-conspirators and never expected the reaction. Even the morning after, the MN media didn't realize how damaging this 'show' was to the dems.

And this is... a new experience?

Not to us.They have been brown noseing the party for so long they didn't expect the sudden stop. Yea, clever media.

Actually, the news service did America a favor by not pulling the plug on this debauched democrat idea of a memorial for their dearly departed.

I agree. It was the most honest moment of the whole campaign. It's not often that folks get to see the true face of the Democratic Party.

"DFL Don" Shelby, Brian Lambert, Paul Magers, et al. are really embarrassed because the truth came out. Can't have that, eh guys? I suspect Norm Coleman will at least get a hearing from Minnesotans now.

Not only that but one of the stations actually replayed the event.

...plus additional viewers during KMSP's 10:30 p.m. replay and on C-SPAN.

It is getting more publicly apparent that the Democrats, particularly after the Clinton years, corrupt everything they touch, like a Midas from hell. Clinton's behind the scenes control, McAuliffe's appointment by Clinton and subsequent role as the Slick Willie hand puppet, all suffer the stench of absolute corruption.

I am only surprised that they didn't find a way to prop up Wellstone's corpse with an "I'd vote for Mondale if I were alive!" (probably still will, knowing the Dems), but there probably wasn't enough left to do it, and actually running another corpse for Wellstone's former seat was probably would have made it overkill.

Maybe next year.

Thanks for the link, especially to the Rick Kahn speech. That reminded me of watching the speech films of Adolph Hitler. The staccado delivery, the crazy rantings and the lemming followers. The us verses them mentality and the lunacy of asking rival political peers to help defeat themselves shows the utter arrogance and lack of grace that not ony Kahn but the other Democrats showed. It shows the maniacal mission that the Democrats are on. Voter fraud is going to be a big concern thic election, not that it wasn't last. These people are nut cases.

Who knows, maybe they're starting to see themselves the way we see them. Goldberg and Coulter helped open eyes...

What a bunch of left-wing cowards. Their discomfort was obviously not very acute, was it??? Who stayed with the debacle for over three hours? They are all just covering their a**es. Nuff said.

This whole distasteful episode reminds me of the memorial service that WJM had for Chuckles the Clown.

I half-expected Harkin to say "A little song, a little dance, a little seltzer down your pants down your pants

The other question is which one of these 'anchors' is Ted Baxter

Don't you need to put some kind of warning on that link -- like "Hazardous to your health" or "Warning -- Bio-Hazard"?
