A guest on Cavuto just commented that the next release of Windows won't be called Windows, it will look entirely different, and Gates won't have to worry about this judgment, since it affects Windows.

Well, the point isn't how many will do it; it is that when someone wants to do it, Microsoft can't stop them. This is a good thingUnderstood. Unfortunately it cost us millions of dollars, and devastated the economy for something no one sees as valuable.
To: sinkspur
Oh, doom on that bunch...
All that time, money and effort... wasted. Gates beats them like a red-headed step-child... AGAIN!!

Microsoft survived their competitors? The way I see it, Microsoft are their competitors. Kinda of like a sick frankenstein kinda thing. The companies that used to be Microsoft's competitors were "annexed" into the Reich or otherwise destroyed then emulated. You mean the companies that didn't survive competition, right?
To: All
How interesting, the MS-only folks are also happy with this.
Good deal, all sides are happy then!
Having actually taken the time to read this, it does exactly what I wanted. MS is a convicted criminal (altho certainly appeals are still on the way). I was pushing for the judge to accept the original settlement, and she actually went beyond that, and in fact named Java specifically.
Excellent.
Now all parties who can prove in court that MS acted illegally and harmed them can get renumeration.
America, ain't it grand?
Odd, I've never seen the devotees of a company happy that their favorite company is now facing nearly $50 billion in lawsuits . . .

Amen.

I guess.

This is a good example of the fact that the Leftists are driven solely by hate. The consequences of their actions, other than benefiting themselves, are not relative to motive.

Now all parties who can prove in court that MS acted illegally and harmed them can get renumeration. Let's see... the other option was having the company sliced and diced to the delight of socialists. Bring the lawsuits on!
Even if what you predict is true it will be a simple matter for Microsoft to make the lawsuits go away. They haven't been building up their cash reserves for nothing.

Bill Gates is a leftist, FYI.

Probably not very many... It's all about choice. You never know, there could be a killer app down the line the requires you to dual-boot.
To: B Knotts
So?
To: hchutch
This decision is good news for the economy and for Tuesday's elections. Wall Street was up today not just in anticipation of a rate cut but also GOP momentum in House and Senate races.
We hold our own on Sunday talk shows, and this election is won. Expand our House majority, and a 50-50 shot at recapturing the Senate. Historic accomplishment.

A guest on Cavuto just commented that the next release of Windows won't be called Windows... I hope Gates calls it "Monica."

See post 62 for the answer to that comment.

It's all about choice. And people have always had that choice. Obviously, dual-boot machines exist. You just haven't been able to get everything from everywhere. Kinda like not being able to get Pepsi at McDonalds or Coke at Taco Bell, but being able to get both at the supermarket.
You never know, there could be a killer app down the line the requires you to dual-boot.
And if there had been one already, I'm sure there would have been a booming market for companies that could install and configure the dual-boot computer and application.

You seemed to be under the missaprehension that Gates was some sort of conservative icon.
Just letting you know he's not.

Bill Gates is a leftist, FYI.WHY isn't this little nugget of truth talked about among those who think that MS can do no wrong? Bill Gates is indeed a flaming leftist. But somehow, that doesn't matter.
I don't get it. What am I missing?
No mercy.
