Isn't MN hand-counting handwritten ballots for Senator? I don't think they had time to reprint ballots with mondale's name.

Actually, MN is taking a long time because all votes are counted by hand. My source is TV from earlier this evening, not sure which network.

Heck...even Oregon has 69% accountability....why is Minnesota lagging at 64% when they are two time zones ahead?

Why is MN taking so long

There are HUGE numbers of ballots which will have to be hand counted, and checked against the books to be sure that voter has not already voted... (like a moderate attempt to avoid fraud/double voting). This is going to take a very long time to do. I do not expect them to be done before late tomorrow.

Because so many ballots must be hand-counted, perhaps as much as 1 million, due to their being last minute (MN allows election day registration)

i just checked and their are ten counties not in yet....up to 44000 votes or so if you go by reg voters and already the state is well over 50% voter turnout...

but the gop and Bush are optimistic for some reason....lets keep hoping and praying....

They do have to be hand-counted in Minnesota... supplemental ballot due to Wellstone tragedy and ballot replacement.

Yes, where did this election day go? I took my daughter to school at 7:15, voted straight Repub, almost broke the green "VOTE" button at the bottom of the machine as I forced it in like hitting a coke machine coin return button when you get screwed out of money, and have been up now for almost 21 hours, as it is 4:07 am here in PA.

Yes, it is tired out now, time for bed, but a 'happy' tired kind of feeling. Thanks be to our lord and savior. God bless all!

Because they had to re-print paper ballots for the Senate race, with Mondale's name on it. Each voter had to mark an "X" in the appropriate box, and put it in a separate box. All those votes have to be hand counted in every precinct, hence the long wait for each county to report their results.

Because he is a mean old man and wants to drag it out. Keep us all waiting until late morning. I REALLY dislike Mondale.
