Democratic Underground Forums Shut Down!!! Couldn't handle the load...

Posted on 11/06/2002 8:07:03 AM PST by HamiltonJay

DU just shut down their discussion forums, claiming they couldn't handle the load.... I wonder if there was just to much dem bashing going on by their own members for that partisan freak running the place to take.

I followed the link.

The great thing is, if all the DU'ers who say "I'm leaving" actually leave, we'll take commanding control of the senate in 2004.

SORE LOSERMANS the bunch. WAH WAH WAH WAH WAH.. Move to Canada you lamers.

If anybody out there has the Opera browser, load up DU and set it to auto-refresh every 15 seconds or so...

This is fun!

Darn. I'd been enjoying DU all morning.

From the comments, it looked as if substantially more than 50 percent of the "democratic underground" despises the Democrat Party as much as they hate their nemesis, "Shrub."

They are really in a tizzy, and can't understand why their America-hating creed - as well as gay rights, abortion-for-teens, and socialism - don't resonate with Americans.

Many DU'ers are getting drunk or popping Xanax right now.

That's OK. The disloyal oppositon is entitled to a day off for aromatherapy.

But just imagine, imagine, imagine . . . .

DU was down, so Sierra Tree Smith-Jones-Abernathy-Ferraro booked a heavy aromatherapy session. He/She arrived early and the sound of womyns singing Kumbaya drifted thru the lobby. Sierra had always liked that particularly diverse, world-music CD by Gathering Global Love. The "Save Gaia" poster on the walls lent a mellow ambience, helping Sierra relax a little from the crushing burden of the Nazi Republican victory the night before.

Suddenly, inspiration struck! "Hey, why doesn't medicare cover aromatherapy? Do you think we could win in 2004 on medicare coverage for aromatherapy? I'll email Cynthia McKinney and see what she thinks." Now that he had an action plan, Sierra felt better already. "I wonder if DU is back up," Sierra mused . . .

But please don't hit the "refresh" button on your Web browser every 5 seconds, or we'll never come back online.

Gee, is it really that easy?

There used to be a simple javascript page that was used for a DDoS attack on Hizbullah's website which would attempt to overload their server by requesting random non-existant pages every few seconds. People would open their browsers to that page and then minimize the window.

A short google search should provide the source code, if anyone's interested.

However, I believe the law has been made unduly harsh for these types of DDoS attacks. It would not seem wise to try this anymore.

Well I doubt it was shut down simply because the postings were crazy... the guy who runs it is an absolute loon! Partisan to the extreme... as are most of the posters there... If it got shut down because of content it was likely because too many of their own troops were lambasting the dems. O'reilly made the mistake of giving this idiot air time once, and cut him off in less than a minute because all he was doing was ranting about the stolen election of 2000 etc etc etc.. .the usual insane left rhetoric. So I doubt it was because of overt partisanship it got shut down... if anything it was too much dissent.

Lets face it this guy banned any dissenting posts on that site at all for the weeks leading up to the elections.

this afternoon when McAuliffe commits ritual seppuku on national television!

We should get broadcast rights for that; put it on pay-per-view. Donate the proceeds to FR, and we'd never need another fund-raiser.

They probably shut down because of the inane comments they were getting from their usual supporters. They surely must have been embarrassed.

I don't think so :) I don't think "embarassed" is in the range of emotions of DU'ers. If it were, they wouldn't be DU'ers.

All we need is to root out the vote fraud in South Dakota:

Details on how to report it to the ACU are here:

I'm still on the forums so please, ask me what you want me to find, and I'm more than happy to laugh my arse off and look it up. I'm in full gloat and glee mode today and still laughing just way, way, way too much. Another DU example of the koolaid fest:

"THE NAZIS ARE IN CONTROL!"

God, I love the smell of napalm on a DNC party in the morning.

Thanks for the ping.

The wailing and handwringing I saw on DU last night was so nearly suicidal, I wondered how the were able to construct their "Bush had this rigged" tinfoil hats.

Cue the band!

Don't stop whining about elections
Don't stop, give in to all your fears
Don't stop pining about rejections
Tomorrow has gone! Tomorrow has gone!

Ooooooo.... Don't you look sad....

Maybe we need to send some counselors over there before a mass suicide occurs. There were not all that stable to begin with, this may just push them over the edge.

Gawd, I am loving it. Does this make me sadistic?

This just proves that a grassroots effort can still be effective not only on a local, but on a state and national level as well. I would like to thank all you guys (and gals)from all over for assisting in the liberation of our country.

Huge schadenfruede.

I'm sorry, but liberals can be as self destructive as they want, but I don't want them draggin' me over the cliff with their suicidal foreign policy and bad economic plans. Apparently neither does the rest of the country.
