DU just shut down their discussion forums, claiming they couldn't handle the load.... I wonder if there was just to much dem bashing going on by their own members for that partisan freak running the place to take.

Welcome to FR! Actually we've had, and have, a number of articulate and intelligent left-of-center posters. My advice is to ignore the insults - there are FReepers quite as immature as the average DU poster, it's just that it doesn't seem to be nearly as many. Frankly, if the Dems had listened to the advice offered on this forum they might have done better last evening.

They don't want ANYONE who disagrees with them no matter how much sense it makes! They're in their OWN little world and don't want ANYONE disrupting their thoughts or ideas! I was lovin' it reading all their misery last night and the TOTAL cluelessness of these people! They just couldn't understand it!
Someone posted a "Congratulations to the Republicans" thread, which wasn't nasty or anything... Man, it was yanked as fast as I could read the 6 or 8 comments on it! As soon as I hit refresh after 30 seconds of reading, It was GONE!! It was a BEAUTIFUL night!
Anyway, hope to enter into some discourse down the road on topics I can safely engage in without getting too flamed :o)
That's a great attitude. Unlike DU, that bans any posters who do not parrot their misguided philosophy, we gladly accept liberal posters who can remain civil. We will be glad to politely correct any liberal misconceptions that you may have :o)

That's the reason they pulled the plug. Since last evening, there have been many comments from that site posted here - most of which were real knee-slappers. The gales of laughter provoked by their pained comments must've been too much to bear. It's the "insult added to injury" thing, and they can't handle it.
Of course, it's too late now... now we can laugh about NOT seeing their pained comments! :-)
