100-year-old says 63,000 beers have kept him young (Hold muh BEER!)

Centenarian Edgar Moore says downing almost 63,000 pints of beer has kept him young.

Mr Moore has drunk two pints a day since he left school at 14.

This means at 100 he's sunk 62,780 pints and spent £87,000 on beer at today's prices.

The retired farm worker told The Sun : "I've enjoyed a couple of pints of mild every single day since I started work, and I think it's kept me young.

"When you tot up the cost it sounds a fortune but it's a small price for all the enjoyment.

"There's nothing like having a natter with the lads and a laugh with the barmaids. I've got a dodgy knee, but I still manage to walk half a mile backwards and forwards to the pub at lunchtime."

Mr Moore was bought his first beer by fellow farmhands in 1916 and didn't miss a session for 61 years at the Mill Road club in Scunthorpe, Lincolnshire.

After moving in 1981 he shifted his allegiance to the Pied Piper two miles away and still rolls up each lunchtime

I figure if I drink a beer a day, I will live a long time. Right now, I'm a 177 years old....in beer years.

Yeah but I hope the old codger went to Hell for not offering us any.

That's a little tackey. No, that's really crude.

If Ben Franklin had met you in a Philedelphia Tavern, he would have bought you a beer, invited you to sit down and would have engaged you in a spirited discussion of the issues of the day.

In my opinion you have failed in your crude attempt at humor.

Go spank yourself.

Have a beer and lighten up. We don't need any more prudes around here.

Major apologies. I mistook your humor for dogma.

I am hoisting a Fosters right now!

Yum! When are we invited to your house? (I'm 10 miles down the road in Dunwoody).

Personally, not being a homebrew type, I prefer Guinness (those pint cans with the "draft" device are a wonderous thing) and darker microbrews. I have a bottle coke machine with 7 slots, 5 with beer and 2 with soft drinks. ;-)

" I (me, LibKill) drink beer every day. If you set eyes on me you would underestimate my age by at least ten years. Everyone else does. "

Same here . I'm 50 , but most people think I'm just pushing 40 . I was proofed in bars until I was in my early 30s !
My Japanese students ( I teach JHS ) think I am in my 30's ! I thought it was the Boudreau genes , but now I know it's THE BEER !

...a batch of Charlie Papazian's Toad Spit Stout...

Charlie. [Doffs hat, holds over heart...] Charlie Papazian. The Man...

Just bottled my Christmas brew - a little different time, one of Charlie's recipes, honey, fresh ginger, orange peels, and a couple of cinnamon sticks in the boil, lotsa hops. If I read it right the final gravity tells me it's about 137% alcohol. You shouldn't drink while testing...but hey, "relax. Don't worry. Have a homebrew..."

The Beer Prayer:

Our lager,
Which art in barrels,
Hallowed be thy drink.
Thy will be drunk, (I will be drunk), At home as it is in the tavern.
Give us this day our foamy head,
And forgive us our spillage,
As we forgive those who spill against us. And lead us not to incarceration,
But deliver us from hangovers.
For thine is the beer, the bitter, and the lager.
Barmen.

You can live off of beer as long as you take a daily multivitamin . . . although I wouldn't recommend it

How should I know? I was born long after they went to their great reward.

However, my studies of History tell me that Ben Franklin was a very gentlemanly ladies man. And he was very popular with the ladies, if you get my meaning, wink-wink, nudge-nudge.

I say no more.

In college, we talked about marketing beer that way, with a vitamin attached to the beer can.

I think many of us inadvertantly did, in fact, live off of beer for awhile in college. There were times when all I'd eat for the day was a sandwich before beginning the next round of partying.

Good times . . . I think(?) . . . :-)

Geez, Drill. You scared me to death! (Actually, I just spilled a little.) I had to Google to make sure ol' Pap was still around.

By the way. Hope you kept an eye on the corn sugar.
