Wow, this is fertile sound-bite fodder for Republican commercials :)

If Ford does not like rich white women he is never going to get support from Michael Jackson.

Don't you love it when the other side does the heavy lifting for us?
To: AppyPappy

Many of the same things Frost was saying the other day: Pelosi is to out of step with the country. She'll only be an obstructionist and not give Republicans credit when they are right, won't be bipartisan, etc.
To: DoozerDude
Ford never had a real job; went directly from law school to the House.

He is saying that Pelosi will lead the party in the wrong direction...we don't need her kind of leadership...the people have spoken...

Reminds me of the axiom, don't interupt your enemy when they're in the process of shooting themselves in the foot.

Sounds like he's trying to split the difference between Pelosi and Frost, and set himself up as the ideological heir to Gephardt.

Smart for him-- he is thinking long term. He knows that the Democrats will vote for Pelosi. He also knows that it is a suicidal move which will wreck the Democrats in the next election.
He will be well positioned to pretty much become the defacto leader of the entire party during its reconstruction after the coming leftist implosion. He'll be a player in 2006.
To: My2Cents
So far he has had nothing good to say about Pelosi. He sounds like a true Republican, wait he's a Democrat.

It's gonna be ugly. Better buy extra beer and popcorn.
To: DoozerDude
We should all hope for Pelosi, because Ford has promise. He talks a "moderate" game, avoids gaffes, is telegenic, etc.
To: DoozerDude
I don't like rich white liberals either. Ford and I actually agree for once.....
To: AppyPappy
He is running for the middle. He is saying he will have the coalition in the caucus.

And Mary Landrieu is watching her chances at re-election crumble. She needs both the help of the far-left & feminist constituencies that Pelosi represents, and she needs the support of blacks. But it appears those two Democrat factions will be fighting each other when she needs them.
To: Route66
We need for him to shut up. He's going to ruin us.
To: Tree of Liberty
That's why I support Pelosi:^)
To: DoozerDude
I am impressed that Ford is doing this. It's nice when the Democrats get boxed in on race.

He may be America's second black president someday.
He's telling it like it is. Liberalism doesn't work, and he says the last 3 elections have proven it. He's says Pelosi is too liberal.

Better buy extra beer and popcorn.I'm not too crazy about popcorn.
The extra beer, I can do. ;)
To: DoozerDude
This guy is impressive in communicating. Now can he keep his body of dems together is another matter. He definately has what it takes, but it's gonna be an up hill battle if he scorns this woman, Pelosi.

To: Dallas
He's not clean enough to be President. Plus white liberals like for blacks to run for President but not win. Too much open religion.
To: AppyPappy
He's talking taxes, but it is truly double talk. He said absolutely nothing. He's 'for' the working person. Duh...
" I would look for some kind of stimulous."

Yes- root for Pelosi. The Democrats are making the mistake that "moderate" views killed them in this election and think by going to the hard kook Left and making Pelosi (who the NYT named as being in the top most 20 most left wing in Congress) their leader they are going appeal to middle America! What killed them is they had no views- moderate or otherwise.
To: Tuco-bad
ep, he basically inherited his dad's seat.
To: Blood of Tyrants
Yup. I certainly meant it when I wrote that he talks a moderate game.
To: Dog
Ford is an Al Gore Puppet.
He is controlled by a wooden handle.
To: AppyPappy
Pelosi is going to have a press conference after Ford's done during which she'll produce the list of her supporters (some 110 strong, enough to win). If Ford somehow pulls it out (which I think is near impossible at this point), there's going to be even MORE bloodletting among the dim's when they find who sold her out.
To: bankwalker
I'm calling for all black liberal Democrats from Free Republic... LOL! I was thinking "He's talking to himself again.."
To: William McKinley
And Mary Landrieu is watching her chances at re-election crumble. Whoo-Hoo! How are they gonna get that big Black turn out after the Dems push another Brother to the back of the bus? Go, Pelosi!
To: Woodman
He has no chance...he is pi$$ing off the demo leadership..Pelosi is hand picked
To: tellw
Paging Mr. Bellafonte: We may have another "house slave" (his words) for you to slander. Please pick up the black courtesy phone.

The reason Clinton embraced being the "First Black President" is so the Dems wouldn't have to feel guilty as they continue to marginalize smart black members in their ranks... "No need for a black President when we've already elected one!"
To: William McKinley

He will be well positioned to pretty much become the defacto leader of the entire party during its reconstruction after the coming leftist implosion. He'll be a player in 2006. You beat me to what I was going to say. Pelosi will be strident and alienate voters. Ford knows this and recognizies a Republican landslide behind Dubya's reelection is comming in 2004. Following that disaster for the Dems he will be ready to say SITYS and challenge Pelosi again.
