Many of the same things Frost was saying the other day: Pelosi is to out of step with the country. She'll only be an obstructionist and not give Republicans credit when they are right, won't be bipartisan, etc.

Black conservative ping

If you want on (or off) of my black conservative ping list, please let me know via FREEPmail. (And no, you don't have to be black to be on the list!)

Extra warning: this is a high-volume ping list.

Sounds like he's trying to split the difference between Pelosi and Frost, and set himself up as the ideological heir to Gephardt.

Smart for him-- he is thinking long term. He knows that the Democrats will vote for Pelosi. He also knows that it is a suicidal move which will wreck the Democrats in the next election.

He will be well positioned to pretty much become the defacto leader of the entire party during its reconstruction after the coming leftist implosion. He'll be a player in 2006.

And Mary Landrieu is watching her chances at re-election crumble. She needs both the help of the far-left & feminist constituencies that Pelosi represents, and she needs the support of blacks. But it appears those two Democrat factions will be fighting each other when she needs them.

He may be America's second black president someday.

He's telling it like it is. Liberalism doesn't work, and he says the last 3 elections have proven it. He's says Pelosi is too liberal.

He is no moderate. The ACU (http://www.acuratings.com/acu_doc.cgi?ACT=1&USER_ID=1067&YEAR=2001) gives him a lifetime conservative rating of 12. The same as Lil' Dickie.

Yes- root for Pelosi. The Democrats are making the mistake that "moderate" views killed them in this election and think by going to the hard kook Left and making Pelosi (who the NYT named as being in the top most 20 most left wing in Congress) their leader they are going appeal to middle America! What killed them is they had no views- moderate or otherwise.

Pelosi is going to have a press conference after Ford's done during which she'll produce the list of her supporters (some 110 strong, enough to win). If Ford somehow pulls it out (which I think is near impossible at this point), there's going to be even MORE bloodletting among the dim's when they find who sold her out.

The reason Clinton embraced being the "First Black President" is so the Dems wouldn't have to feel guilty as they continue to marginalize smart black members in their ranks... "No need for a black President when we've already elected one!"

You beat me to what I was going to say. Pelosi will be strident and alienate voters. Ford knows this and recognizies a Republican landslide behind Dubya's reelection is comming in 2004. Following that disaster for the Dems he will be ready to say SITYS and challenge Pelosi again.
