In Fairness to Sen. Nelson... I should post his letter.. although I suspect Nelson and Graham discussed this issue before respondind to my calls/faxs/letters.. My Fellow Floridians..Please call Nelson and thank him for supporting the resolution, but politely remind him that we don't need the UN's approval or permission for ANYTHING... Stand up for America! not the UN!

Note that Sen. Nelson, admits he is OPPOSED to an EXPANDED resolution.... called for by Sen. Graham in his FAILED Ammendment.. this is EXACTLY the reason Graham proposed it.. He was trying to get the spineless left a reason to vote against final passage thus a VICTORY for the left.. WAKE UP FLORIDA !!
To: davidosborne
Post#6...Nelson & Graham are of the same ilk.
I can say this having lived in Florida for almost 30 years, and living in the same community as Nelson.
Years ago, I thought differently of him.....but came to see him in his true light.
I suppose we should give appreciation when due.....but he's a hard one to appreciate.

You are right!!! The question for Mr. Nelson is this: "What did the UN do for eight years while Saddam ignored them, even rubbed their noses in their resolutions?. The UN is a paper tiger that only TALKS. It took the president of the US to embarass them into getting away from window posing, to actually addressing a problem. Without the US, there is NO UN."

Now we just have to inform a few million Floridians..
FReegards,

Thanks for your insight..

About the only thing I can say in his favor is that he was fairly quiet and unassuming at our 40th high school reunion (of course, the vast majority of his fellow Melbourne High alumni in attendance were Republicans, and he knew it!).

You can be sure of the two working together! Your assessment makes perfect sense -- Graham puts up the amendment knowing full well the liberals will shoot it down.
When Graham speaks on TV my TV goes to another station. I don't trust him at all! As for Nelson -- he gives me the creeps!
To: davidosborne
Hi, David-
It wasn't Nelson and Graham who discussed this issue before the vote went down. It was Nelson and Hillary! Remember, Hillary! also voted for the resolution.Nelson votes as Hillary! votes. Count on it. They are as thick as thieves. Nelson has firmly attached himself to her coattails.
As for Graham, he is 100% pure liberal, and his vote reflects that. The only nice thing I can say about him is that he was the first RAT to come to President Bush's defense when Hillary! pulled that "Bush knew" stunt on the senate floor.
To: davidosborne
Nelson and Graham are a couple of good ol' boys who've rarely met a social engineering plan they didn't like. Hopefully Florida voters will take Bob to the woodshed next election cycle. It'd be a nice change of pace to see a Constitutionalist in his office.

I saw Nelson on TV last week and I tell ya, he makes my skin crawl! I couldn't handle it and had to turn the channel.

I am so glad to hear you say that -- I thought maybe it was just me. Some Dems I don't like and change channels or mute but there is something about him that is creepy!
To: PhiKapMom
I can't quite put my finger on it either but my reaction was instantaneous and this was the very first time I have ever heard or seen him.
Man, it was like fingernails on a chalkboard!

Do either of you know what Nelson did before getting into politics? I'm curious because he just sold his house in Tallahassee for over $1,000,000 that he bought in 1996 for $740,000.

Florida Freepers are going to be the bane of many Florida pols for years to come. (^:
Politics are an integral part of McBride's life and are becoming more so by the day. When Hart didn't work out in '84, he signed on first with Joe Biden and then Michael Dukakis in '88. There's still a yard sign in the garage. "I've always been a Democrat," he says. "I may be the last one." A supporter of Bob Martinez when he was the Democratic Mayor of Tampa, he has closely aligned himself to the 1990 gubernatorial hopes of Rep. Bill Nelson (D.-Melbourne), a friend since they met in Key Club while McBride was at Leesburg High School and Nelson at Melbourne High.
Nelson and McBride have a long history together. The congressman is a frequent house guest. While in Tampa, McBride fills his friend's days and nights with meetings and social engagements to help Nelson spread his political base across Central Florida.
"When we have time together, we make the most of it," according to Nelson. "Bill would fill every available minute with meetings -- over breakfast, lunch and dinner."

Nelson's like Graham, a career politician. I don't see either of them ever losing an election in Fla.
(gag!)

None of this changes the fact that Nelson is a Socialist pseudo-cracker with an ACU rating only slightly higher than Ted Kennedy. The sooner we blast this square-jawed goon back into space the better. He can take that coot Bob Graham with him too.

He was an Ass-stronaut and then a congressman (from the Lakeland area I believe). Had a so-so voting record as a congressman, but now is the Socialist junior senator for the entire state.
Tom Gallagher could've beaten him.

Many of us are well aware of the duplicitous nature of
graham and little bill nelson. They talk conservative
back home and vote the liberal line in DC. I think the
defeat of carter va administrator in Georgia was a wake-
up call for both, but especially for little bill. Nelson
is arguably the dumbest member of the US Senate, now that
the idiot from New Hampshire has been put out to pasture.

He's from the other coast: he got his astronaut gig while a Congressman over the district that included Cape Canaveral. In fact (trivia), he was on the last flight prior to the Challenger disaster.
Nelson has been bouncing around as a public servant/politician for his adult life. Probably the best job he did was as Florida's Insurance Commissioner ... I believe that was after a failed attempt at either Governor or Senate in the late 80's (going from memory here).
Early on, while a lib rat, he was at least scrupulous: I once rode an elevator down with him at the Orlando airport, then later passed his car going eastbound on the Beeline expressway -- he was driving a rented escort, 55 MPH on the dot.

You can be sure of the two working together! Your assessment makes perfect sense -- Graham puts up the amendment knowing full well the liberals will shoot it down. Actually in this case Graham really wanted his ammendment to pass.. and so did all the other HARD leftist.. its purpose was to give the "moderate" liberals a reason to vote NO on final passage... Thank God it did NOT pass....
