Very cool letter. I agree with everything she says, and the Distillers are great.

You know, Joan went to Afghanistan. Where are the other so-called musicians when their country needs them? Good for Joan for being patriotic!

You know something? Here's a woman of true accomplishment, who went to Afghanistan to entertain the troops while Britney and Pink were home whining about their colorists.

Hey Freeps. Let's find this woman's website and send her a massive Freepbomb telling her how much she's appreciated.

Rolling Stone obviously doesn't give a sh*t, but we can.

Be Seeing You,

Chris

Real rock and related music died nearly two decades ago.

Now it is only loud noise, cussing and mascara.

The crap they pass as music these days can be put together on an old 386 XT computer.

Most of the toads who record these days don't know the difference between a half note and a C note (unless it's stuck in a pile of coke or X...

I have that issue. It is best suited for the bottom of a bird cage. A BIG bird cage.

Joan Jett & the Blackhearts, who have never stopped touring, recently did 10 days in the Middle East playing for the troops stationed in Afghanistan. In AFGHANISTAN, Joan would come onstage wearing a birkha, which she ripped off and stomped on before blazing through the purest and nastiest rock show

Because Joan has a set of brass ones, as opposed to somewhat bouncy silicone ones. Britney would have been offended by the lack of Perrier available.

I tend not to base my taste in musicians/actors/sports players, etc., off of their political or social views. If I did, I'd have to live in a shack out in the middle of nowhere. Life is too short to be boring.

Isn't Joan too old for PMS? I kinda lost interest in her after she cut her hair and bleached it. Or did it just go gray?

Actually I don't blame her either. She makes excellent points. You go girl!<

This is the company that Joan Jet keeps.

Source: Thousands Rally For Women's Rights

Excerpt:

"Chief speakers included NOW's President Patricia Ireland; the Rev. Jesse Jackson; United States Representative Chuck Schumer (D-NY); survivors of anti-abortion violence; Salt from the rap group Salt `n Pepa; and Cagney and Lacey stars Tyne Daly and Sharon Gless. The day's entertainment included popular performers Luscious Jackson, Joan Jet and the Blackhearts, Toad the Wet Sprocket, and Disappear Fear."

The music business as controlled by corporate music entities is not about music, it's about selling. There isn't a single slot on music radio that wasn't already paid for by promoters acting as middlemen so stations can say they don't take payola. The only reason Britney Whatzername gets the exposure that she does is because she is viewed as a marketable property worthy of spending promotional dollars on and Rolling Joke magazine is using those pre-paid promotional dollars to sell their rag.

You got that right. Tom Petty's latest song, The Last DJ was written for KLOS's (here in L.A) Jim Ladd. He does his own show and plays what he wants. Not what the corporate heads who do not know jack about music say to. KLOS specializes in classic rock, the harder stuff, not the fluffy junk. But Ladd won't play the standards. He digs pretty deep and finds some great b-sides and a bunch of other weird, but good, stuff.

But maybe because Joan's got it short (like Eminem) it's not so hard on one's hair? Only on the scalp! (Ouch!).

You have these corporate morons running FM that have no clue. In the early 90's there was this wave of stations mixing classic rock with modern rock. Look, the last thing I want to hear is Zeppelin's "Immigrant Song" followed by some Green Day song.
