Coretta Scott King argues against war on Iraq

San Francisco-AP -- Coretta Scott King is speaking out against the possibility of a war on Iraq.

She says an attack on Saddam Hussein would increase anti-American sentiment, create more terrorists and drain as much as 200 billion taxpayer dollars that she says should be invested in America.

The civil rights leader and widow of Martin Luther King Junior says homeland security ought to be "more about providing health care for every citizen, and less about reshuffling bureaucratic agencies and undermining our civil liberties."

King spoke in San Francisco last night, after receiving an award from the Metropolitan Community Foundation. It's a gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender organization that provides services to homeless and other needy people.

I wonder who writes her copy; the woman hasn't a thought in her still pretty head. She's strongly implying that we must choose between black folks and national security.

BTW, much of her wealth comes from the feds (i.e., us), who illicitly enrich her and her children. She and the kids rip off most of the rest from private companies who contribute to the King Family foundation for projects that never happen, because the Kings squander all the money on themselves. They also make money from shaking down anyone who wants to write on MLK for previously unheard of rights fees, including for works that MLK had ripped off from other writers, and illegally copyrighted.

The widow King and her children are a national disgrace.

I was stationed in England in 1970, in my leftwing days. Coretta Scott King gave a speech from St.Paul's Cathedral. Even then I can remember thinking, "this lady is a stone communist."

She just wants some sort of government grant for her idea for a MLK Theme Park, complete with rides and concession stands.

Coretta, dear, I was taught to never ask a question if I wasn't going to like the answer.

Dead people do not need healthcare Mrs King. And I would love a better plan than managed care but not at the expense of national security.

Right, just like the Police increase anti-authority sentiment and create more criminals and drain taxpayer dollars....

This woman is not too bright.

In a way, she is right.

Lots of people wish they could get health care.... Like the 3000 people who died at the WTC, and the hundreds on the 4 airliners, and the hundreds at the Pentagon. They all wish they could get health care now......

How would that work? Health care is now homeland security?

It's a new rhetorical form that's being rolled out. The tactic is to say "we're for security and safety for America," and then you say that means the security of the health care system, and assuring the safety of Social Security, blah blah blah. It's designed to make it sound like they agree with Bush, while turning the conversation to their attack points. I first noticed it coming from Nancy Pelosi. It was no doubt crafted by the party spinmeisters to try to give them some cover after the election debacle.

Why should I care what she thinks? She and her family have disgraced Martin Luther Kings legacy by turning it into a money grubbing, law suit happy enterprise. Prior to that she spent her time traveling the United States bullying various cities into naming a street Martin Luther King Boulevard.

How true!!!! MLK is now a corporation with a brand name protected by lawyers. The King family laze off the efforts and fame of Martin Luther King.

Wow. How comforting for me to care for what this women has to say to this group. Do any of them understand the notion of a future? Or, are they just concerned about their immediate misery caused by themselves to the last man, women, and it.

I HAVE A DREAM....but if I were dead because of Iraq, or disabled because of Iraq's weapons of mass destruction...then I CANNOT HAVE A DREAM.

Ms King lives on cloud nine and would prefer to just worry about her neighborhood, which is fine. Her neighborhood is not completely safe. Her neighborhood is threatened. Her neighborhood could end up being a disaster zone because of WMD. You can have all the healthcare you want...but if you are dead...it won't matter.

I welcome King's comments. Fifty-three percent of the electorate indicated last Nov 5 that they have noticed which party is serious about national defense in a time of war. The more Democrat luminaries like Ms. King remind them which party that is, the sooner we can expect fifty-three to become fifty-seven, or even sixty, percent.
