One statistic I've heard quite a bit since 9/11 is that, of all the armed conflicts going on in the world right now, Muslims are involved in all but two or three of them. I've heard wide-ranging numbers for the number of armed conflicts, from 40 to 141. If someone could list each of these conflicts, as well as highlight the ones Muslims are not involved in, that'd be great. I'd just like some clarification for this startling statistic.

Nothing new, nothing surprising.
However, mention it, and you may be risking your life.

I don't think there's any doubt that muslims are involved in most, they're certainly not involved in Northern Ireland, nor the FARC insurgency in Columbia. The Basques in Spain aren't muslim.

I may be wrong, but I doubt it. The religion of peace is very consistent.
To: zapiks44
All totally consistent with my theory that while most of the significant wars of the 20th century were idealogical confrontations of communism/socialism vs. democracy/free markets, the major conflicts of the 21st century will be theologically based Muslim vs. Non-Muslim confrontations.

To the best of my knowledge, and according to the U.N., muslims are involved in more then half of all the geo-political conflicts that are active in the world right now, also did I read that right. China has over a 100 million muslims????? That can't be right?

One would have to have their eyes sewn shut not to see that the primary cause of armed conflict today is Islamic fundamentalism. I'd be hard pressed to find an active conflict other than Colombia or Rwanda/Burundi which isn't primarily an Islamic war. Our hemisphere is nearly free of armed conflict, and has an insignificant Muslim presence. The other half of the globe is on fire (as usual).
From my memory here's a list of recent Islam-fueled conflicts.
Europe:
Bosnia - Muslims vs. Slavs
Albania/Kosovo - Muslims vs. Slavs
FYRoM - Muslims vs. Slavs/Greeks
Cyprus - Muslims vs. Greeks
Africa:
Algeria - Muslims vs. secular democracy
Sudan - Muslims vs. Christians
Egypt - Muslims vs. Christians
Eritrea/Ethiopia - Muslims vs. ?
Middle East and environs:
Armenia/Azerbijan - Muslims vs. Christians
Iraq - Muslims vs. Kurds
Iraq - Sunni Muslims vs. Shia Muslims
Iraq - Muslims vs. USA
Israel - Muslims vs. Jews
Lebanon - Muslims vs. Christians/Druze
Iran - Muslims vs. secular democrats
Asia:
Pakistan - Muslims vs. Christians/Hindus
India - Muslims vs. Hindus
Afghanistan - Muslims vs. Muslims
Afghanistan - Muslims vs. USA
China - Muslims vs. Communists
Russia - Muslims vs. Slavs
Georgia - Muslims vs. Slavs
Phillipines - Muslims vs. secular democracy
Indonesia - Muslims vs. secular 'democracy'/militarists
Uzbekistan - Muslims vs. fascists
This is just off the top of my head... quite a list it is. It should be obvious to the world that Islam in its current form is incompatible with the survival of humanity.

Actually, there are Islamist elements involved in all three, providing training or assistance in some form. The intent being, as I understand it, to create as much instability in the West as possible.

Note the percentages above. They aren't entirely stupid. Their pattern has been much the same in the last couple of centuries...
1) Infiltrate the culture...but don't assimilate
2) Decry religious intolerance (the U.S. is in this stage)
3) When they have a large enough population, governments are influenced. Armed confrontations begin.
4) When they have a plurality, they institute Muslim law or violent overthrow begins (whichever is easier).
5) If they couldn't institute Muslim law in step 4, they eventually get around to it. At this point, they oppress the religious and ethnic minorities.
Look around the world and see if this pattern isn't repeated...

That depends on the difficulty in influencing the government. In the case of Germany and France...
Of course, look how we are bending over backwards in our PC toward them and they are only 1.5% of the population.
It may be a model that's been repeated but, like anything else, there are aberrations in the stages.

I'm sure I am preaching to the choir on this one:
It's been Muslims vs. the world since the birth of the religion. No matter where Islam resides it seems that it is always having problems with someone. That's because Islam is a far cry from it being "A Religion of Peace". Even The Prophet himself was always in someone's face, willing to risk it all to gain power. It's sad and a little sick to say but the only guys who had the right idea on how to deal with Islam were the Mongols, and look where they wound up.

To: crazykatz
I know. I was supporting operations in Italy when all of that was going down. We knew what was really going on but the political leaders (namely Clinton and Albright) forced the issue.
Kosovo was the traditional capital province of Serbia. Albanian Muslims (who were on the terrorism list) moved their numbers in over many years and became the majority. They persecuted the minority population of Serbs, prompting a response from the Serbian government. They also sued for autonomy for the region with an eventual goal of annexation by Albania. The end result is that we came to the aid of these thugs in a pure "Wag the Dog" scenario with the political aspirations of Albright thrown in for good measure--she was quoted at the time of considering a run for political office in her native region.
It's their play book and we've been "encouraging" them for years.

The Bible is rarely this harsh. But check out what God said about Ishmael the father of the Arabs, way back in Genesis.
Genesis 16:10 The angel of the LORD also said to her, "I will so greatly multiply your descendants that they cannot be numbered for multitude." 11 And the angel of the LORD said to her, "Behold, you are with child, and shall bear a son; you shall call his name Ish'mael; because the LORD has given heed to your affliction. 12 He shall be a wild ass of a man, his hand against every man and every man's hand against him; and he shall dwell over against all his kinsmen."

Actually, the IRA used to be funded heavily by the former USSR. Today you see the PLO and Moumar Qadaffi heavily funding them. (The CIA intercepted a 30 million dollar shipment of arms and discovered several more of that magnitude scheduled).
This is nothing new. Marxist organizations are often proxies for Islamic interests since both fight democracies.
Also, the LRA in Uganda was not mentioned on someone's earlier list. This "Lord's Resistance Army" proxies itself as a "Christian" group, but they spend most of their time killing Christians and other non Muslims. On closer examination, you see they are Funded by the Islamic Sudanese government and run by Idi Amin's former minister (another radical Islamist movement that killed over 1,000,000 Christians).
So En Garde. Not everything is face value.
