Laugh your way to the door. The truth is on this thread, including the context of your comment.

Another voice from DU...?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Tom Ridge in charge of the homeland security department, not John Ashcroft? Well until Bush's signing the homeland security bill yesterday, Ashcroft was in charge.

Then if it is humorous it must be fairly benign right? Correct.

>>most of us normal Americans are worrying about our survival as a nation.
I would point out Neal Boortz's germane observation that we beat the Germans, Japanese, and the Soviets without a Big Brother-ish "Department of Homeland Security." This organization bears watching. I'm glad Armey and Barr are joining the ACLU, where perhaps they may do that and get that organization to protect all rights in the Constitution (2, 4, and 10 come to mind as "neglected by the ACLU), instead of manufacturing new Leftist ones.

Yes, but during WWII the FBI enlisted the help of citizens to watch people they deemed suspicious, and the citizens were happy to comply.
This group with whom we are at war are much more dangerous to our country's home land and have stated openly that we are all targets until we are all bowing to Allah daily and following Islamic Law to the letter. Sounds like a fight to the death to me.
Were there cries of outrage when Truman created the Department of Defense? The US and UK elevated the art of spying to new heights with the help of Canadian Bill Donovan and no one hollered "unfair". Our success at winning the war depended on it.
This thread is funny, not Ha Ha, peculiar!
To: wingnuts'nbolts
Watching "those deemed suspicious" is a far cry from automating the governmental review of the financial records of *every* American, as one example.
Is this foe dangerous? Of course. But we won't beat this foe by turning the U.S. into a police state. Do I think this is happening? No, but that doesn't mean that keeping a close eye on the doings in Washington isn't merited.
AFAIAC, we should just put the Islamic world on notice - if anything like 9/11 happens again, we're giving you 48 hours notice, and then fusing the black rock into the desert sand. Islamic world - clean up your own house - or else. It sure beats turning our world into a police state.

If dumb is funny then ha ha.
That said, I would enquire of the moderator why CJ and Texasforever continue to be allowed to gangbang at will.
Believe it or not there is something to be said about the right of obnoxious viscious spoiled brats being allowed to decide a forum's fate but these two are beyond the pale.
Such attacks from any side for any reason makes the reading experience here very unpleasant.
If they have some special dispensation from the management for their abusive behavior then you don't have to tell me what it is, just nuke me now.

Your whine reminds me of the old joke:
Patient: "Doctor, doctor! It hurts when I do this!"
Doctor: "Then don't do that."

Almost as unpleasant as reading adults who claim that the enemy is self-governance, or that taking chances with terrorists is preferable to Bush's and Ashcroft's efforts at national self-defense.

...the enemy is self-governance, It has been many years since taking a course in government but I don't believe I know what you are talking about.
...or that taking chances with terrorists is preferable to Bush's and Ashcroft's efforts at national self-defense.
We will be taking chances with terrorists as long as the policy of the USA is to turn a blind eye to the mafias of this country. The Department of Homeland Security is the silliest damn idea to come down the pike since the first President Bush announced that there was going to be a New World Order....
The only reason for the department is to get around the fact that the USG never fires the incompetent lunatics in the departments who already have messed up.

When it comes to George Bush and Republicans in general, the white hot hate of libertarians make democrats, communists and greens look like pikers. No kidding.
There was certainly no joy in Liberdoperville following the Republican successes of November 5. While not as despondent as the democrats, the liberdopians were plenty glum.
Still are.
