"...If this is really what the Church believes, what's the point of its existance?"

Not unlike any government, one may surmise 'power' is the RCC's "point of it's existance." There is no evidence to suggest the spreading of the true Gospel's of Jesus Christ to is anywhere on their agenda. And so millions of souls will perish eternally so long as world ecumenism is "respected" in the here and now...

Yeah, well, you know, I could give them the ecumenism, if it weren't for the child molestations, I couldn't give them the child molestations for anything but...I could give them the ecumenism if they allowed barrier birth control (gosh - will I get flamed for that?!?!?), I could give them the ecumenism if they permitted eclessiastic divorce (will I get flamed for THAT?), I could give them the ecumenism if they were able to distinguish between the Pali invaders of the Church of the Nativity and the Jews who have done a fine job as stewards of the holy land; I could give them the ecumenism if they hadn't turned the seminaries into faggot whore houses; geez, the RC Church, giving ecumenism a bad name...yet again!

So first Cardinal Law protects child molestors within his own church, then he criticizes the Bush administration for going to war with a mass murderer and 9/11 conspirator (Saddam Hussein), and now he embraces a religious cult whose so-called prophet was a terrorist and pedophile. ...And he tops it off by saying that Christians and Muslims both believe in the same God.

A first class putz, this Law character.

I referred to "ecumenism" tongue-in-cheek.

The RCC is a rudderless ship that has run aground...And has no plans whatsoever of heading back to sea as it were.

Yeah, lets see if he can hold a mass there and invite Moslems to attend.

It does not appear so since apparently Allah tells his followers that they will be sent to heaven for killing. His Messenger established the tradition of righteous rape, righteous robbery and suppression of women. None of those are acceptable or laudible for Christ. Thus, I would say that we do not worship the same God. Nor do worshippers of Zeus, Wodin, or Ra. All of those are preferable to Allah, however.

Kind gestures of good-will are one thing, but this is ridiculous.

It makes me wonder if we are not back in the times of Arius the Archheretic when only 3% of the bishops were truly Catholic.

I agree!

"so practice and observe whatever they tell you, but not what they do; for they preach, but do not practice."

The same guy who wants to plead (and prove in the courts to the government) bankruptcy?

Huh.
