I teach high school history...and I start out the year telling them they aren't going to hear a lot of crap about "noble savages" and "diversity". I tell them they are going to hear a lot about dead white european males. I then say, "You know why? Take a look at those documents in the back." I point out to them the Declaration of Independence, Bill of Rights, Constitution, etc. I say, "Because those are the rules...we still live by them...and THEY wrote them. Not Indians, not Mexicans, not minorities. Dead white european males. Deal with it."

After that, the kids get along with me just fine. I tell the parents on the first parent class visits the same thing, and if they want to discuss it, they can come talk to me. They don't. Because no one want to come to a battle of wits out gunned. Besides, 90% are relieved to hear it.
