Since the Canteen is a "Home Away From Home" for our military lurkers
I think it's time we start creating a Holiday atmosphere.
Let the Holiday Season begin!

Mojo, Thank you for including my Dad's picture in your tribute yesterday. I do want to clear something up, though. My Dad, who served in the USAF for 24 years, including WWII, and Korea, and who taught Taiwanese pilots to fly US planes at the height of the Cold war, did not die in action.

I hope I have not posted anything to make you think that he did. My Dad had too much respect for his fallen friends to ever want to be misrepresented as one of them.

I have so few pictures of him because my parents, after more changes in address than they had years of marriage, and after 7 kids, had a very bitter divorce. Military families make all kinds of sacrifices, and unfortunately, the few who are able to hold it all together are more and more rare these days.

My dad died of cancer, in October of 1984.He was 56. He was pretty heavily medicated on the night he died. It suprised us all when in a very clear voice, he requested clearance from the tower, identified himself and took off, with a smile on his face for the pleasure of flying. And then he was gone.

I am proud of him and proud of his service. And I am grateful to the men and women who continue to serve and sacrifice in the great tradition of the military.

I realize that your father didn't die in action, Dutchgirl. However, he served America and his sacrifice on our behalf can never fully be repaid. I know that he must have had friends that died in action. He is still a fallen hero in my eyes. He's no longer here and his presence is missed in the country he loved so much. He must have been an amazing man! God Bless you and your family! Thank you for sharing him with all of us.

HEY SWEETNESS AND LIGHT!!!

I have just now come in from a sleigh ride in the country!

Oooooh it's so beautiful out there white freshly fallen snow all around, crisp cold air, the horses breath hanging in the cold air, a misty and captivating sight!

I'm going to get something warm to drink and have at a new new day!!

*HUGS* to you MOJO JOLT

He had a hard time balancing the partially eaten turkey, full relish tray, devilled eggs and vegetables stacked on top of each other and so left a trail of food leading right up to his home.

In this case the cops had clues!

Tonight begins the Holiday of Chanukah. It should be a joyous
occasion for the People of Israel wherever they are located. It is a
significant reminder of the bravery of a few who stood up to tyranny and
triumphed.

Today we are fighting a different type of enemy in our midst. One
that knows no boundaries with regard to inhumane and immoral acts. One who
believes that it is permissible according to their Moslem Religion to
slaughter Jews and Christians, whom they regard as infidels.

With the help of the Lord we shall triumph over this new Arab
menace. The Macabees of old are an important inspiration to us, but they
are not the only brave warriors in the long and ancient history of our
People. In this Chanukah season we must remind ourselves not only of their
great courage. We too must pray to the Lord that He inspire us to do what
is necessary in order to extricate us from the current grave danger to our
survival. Let us all say Amen!

Department Baseball

An interoffice softball game was held every year between the marketing
and support staff of one company.

The support staff whipped the marketing department soundly.

To show just "how" the marketing department earns their keep, they
posted this memo on the bulletin board after the game:

"The Marketing Department is pleased to announce that for the 1996
Softball Season, we came in 2nd place, having lost but one game all
year. The Support Department, however, had a rather dismal season, as
they won only one game."
