"Awesome book....an absolute must-read....just fantastic....You won't find more diligent research anywhere." --Rush Limbaugh, October 23, 2002
Michelle Malkin, in her book "Invasion", tells us that not long after September 11, 2001, a high official in the Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) announced to reporters and ethnic advocacy groups that illegal immigrants need not worry, that breaking the federal immigration laws was not a federal crime and would not be treated as such.
My suggestion is that the Internal Revenue Service and the INS swap officials and personnel. Official sanction for ignoring federal laws to pay our federal taxes looks very attractive; it would provide a tremendous boost to our economy, and certainly would be the "compassionate" thing to do for millions of hard-working American citizens....(snip)

In fact, as Malkin spells out, the INS is reputedly the most corrupt bureaucracy in the federal government; its agents have the highest incidence of involvement in crime. They do not share information with other law enforcement agencies, nor cooperate with them in apprehending violent criminal aliens. When illegals are apprehended and turned over to them, the INS regularly turns them loose, sometimes with a suggestion that they leave this country. Negligence and corruption is entrenched at every level of government charged with guarding our borders, from the State Department to the Border Patrol. *** Good find Waterdragon!

I saw Michelle Malkin speak last Wedesday night in Garden Grove, Calif. She had attracted about 300 people the night before Thanksgiving. The SRO crowd, give back alot of energy to a tired lady. She was passionate about her message, and I am more encouraged not to give up on the American way of using grass roots to institute change. I also now 'own' Article 4, Section 4 of the Constitution!
"Invasion" is THE written documented record - thus the proof for an indictment against lazy/liberal federal bureauracies and how we may have lost more than just our borders.
This book deserves to be #1, for the sake of our children and to get deserved attention from the liberal media - not to mention our public servants.
It's on my Christmas list for many friends.

From: Michelle Malkin (archive) May 22, 2002 "Foreign student tracking fiasco"
http://www.townhall.com/columnists/michellemalkin/mm20020522.shtmlThe agency's foreign student program remains supremely dysfunctional. Setting a make-believe deadline to fix deep-rooted defects is yet another of the agency's public relations stunts masquerading as "reform." The INS can at least tell us that there are some 1 million foreigners now in the United States with student visas. But it can't say how many of them actually are attending the schools they applied to, where they are if they transferred or dropped out, or whether the student data that schools give them are truthful or fraudulent. Even worse, the agency remains clueless about the legitimacy of the schools it has authorized to issue highly coveted I-20 forms, which certify eligibility for foreign student status. Believe it or not, the inspector general discovered that Huffman Aviation (the Florida flight school attended by Sept. 11 hijackers Mohammed Atta and Marwan Al-Shehhi) has been certified by the INS to accept foreign students for more than decade even though it did not (and does not) meet course study requirements. Like an unknown number of the 70,000 schools currently certified to supply foreign students with entry documents, Huffman was never visited by an INS official. Not that an INS official would know what to look for even if he or she had paid such a visit. The inspector general notes that many of the personnel assigned to certify schools accepting foreign students are "uncertain as to what they are supposed to be looking for when certifying schools."

December 8, 2002 Invasion: How America Still Welcomes Terrorists, Criminals and Other Foreign Menaces to Our Shores by Michelle Malkin

| from the publisher's website Invasion exposes how America continues to welcome terrorists, criminal aliens, foreign murderers, torturers, and the rest of the world's "undesirables." It reveals how our immigration authorities have granted citizenship or legal permanent residence to America-haters and brutal thugs. And it explains how misguided policies and overworked officials have encouraged criminals to enter our country, abuse our systems, and attack our citizens. Based on exhaustive research and interviews with dozens of current and former immigration officials, Invasion shines light on how the INS, Congress, State Department, Big Business, and ethnic special interests continue to value criminal alien rights over American lives. |

Michelle Malkin does a wonderful job of outlineing the current situation. I don't know why in a time of war more aren't hearing what she says.
"Out of sight, out of mind", perhaps.

not a federal crime and would not be treated as suchIt's one thing if they even say just being here and working here illegally isn't a crime but they're also allowing fraudulent documents to be used, they know many illegals are using stolen Social Security numbers to get work Americans will do and to collect welfare, they know they're committing Medicaid and food stamp fraud, they know many are running drugs in from Mexico but they don't want to treat anything like a crime.

Hmm...Wonder how long it will be before somebody in the Bush Administration senses a political threat or at least an irritation from conservative patriot Ms. Malkin (and what it represents on the right) and begins a smear campaign or otherwise tries to destroy this young lady's career or reputation? They will try it for sure; too many special interests at work to insist that nothing changes along our southern border.
They can't smear us ALL, though. There are MILLIONS of us who have had enough. And we are ready to stand up in one big electoral group, growl and kick some ass, be it democrat or republican, on this issue.
To: AmericanInTokyo
I think where the tide is turning is that the issue is becoming national. Once this gets more on the national radar, it's over for any political party in trying to make illegals behavior and access to social funds OK.
Did you know that we do have prop 187 on the books. It isn't enforced because Gray Davis refused to do his job as govenor and defend it in court. As soon as we get a new Govenor with guts, 187 will go back into court and the will of the people will be upheld.
If 187 was put into effect, there would be NO ACCESS to social services or money except for emergency health care.
That would mean no welfare, food stamps, or public education for their children here at a cost to us between $6000 and $7500 per illegal.
In cities like Santa Ana, CA, probably 75% of the school are illegal immigrant children. This costs CA BILLIONS a year and probably HUNDREDS OF BILLIONS since this started.
Let them create paradise in their own lands rather than try to live off of our public troft.
If they haven't the guts to improve their own homeland, then they deserve nothing anyway. They need a good revolution in Mexico, not access to our social funds.
That aside, the Mexican people themselves are nice family religious people. But I still want them left home unless they apply legally for access here.

"breaking the federal immigration laws was not a federal crime and would not be treated as such." Or read another way.........
Only the stupid native born need obey the laws and dutifully pay theirYOUR taxes.

"As soon as we get a new Govenor with guts, 187 will go back into court and the will of the people will be upheld. "
When do you think that blessed event will occur? If The Terminator runs in 2006 I would not expect him to enforce 187. He just made after school programs for kids (all kids including illegals, your tax dollars). Plus I'm not sure even he could win, star appeal and all. The D's have completely subverted the electoral process by getting lots of illegals registered to vote via motor voter.
Sadly, and I speak as a former resident who spend decades living in California, I think it is beyond repair. The budget battle will be fun to watch. Good luck and keep up the good fight.
