Former CNN Reporter Joins Kerry Presidential Effort (To Act As Handler To Rein In Mrs. Heinz)

Three months before CNN political analyst Bill Schneider praised Senator John Kerry’s “intelligence,” Washington-based CNN political reporter Chris Black joined the effort to elect Kerry President by becoming Communications Director for the Heinz Foundation headed by Kerry’s wife, Teresa, the widow of the late Pennsylvania Senator John Heinz.

     Black was hired to “rein in Teresa” after an embarrassing, very un-First Lady-like interview with the Washington Post, the New York Daily News reported in August. (This item has been in my pending file for awhile and today I finally found a hook for it.)

     George Rush and Joanna Molloy reported in the August 22 New York Daily News:
     “Teresa Heinz, the multimillionaire wife of Sen. John Kerry, is getting a top media handler to help with her image, sources confirmed yesterday.
     “The condiment heiress caused her husband to fidget and sigh during a June interview with The Washington Post in which she raged against Sen. Rick Santorum (R-Pa.) and mimicked Kerry having a Vietnam nightmare.
     “That may be why the Heinz Foundation has just hired former CNN White House correspondent Chris Black. According to one source, Black had been wooed for months to help 'rein in Teresa,’ in anticipation of Kerry's expected run for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2004....”

     Following many years as a Washington correspondent for the Boston Globe, Black jumped to CNN in late 1999 and remained at CNN through the end of the Clinton presidency in January of 2001.

Chris Black is a congressional correspondent for CNN, covering the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives. Prior to this assignment, Black was a White House correspondent for CNN, reporting on presidential activities both nationally and internationally. Black joined the White House unit in November 1998, where she reported on the impeachment and trial of President Bill Clinton, U.S. intervention in Kosovo, budget issues and the nuclear test ban treaty.

Prior to joining CNN, Black was a congressional and Pentagon correspondent for The Boston Globe. During her 20 years at the newspaper, Black covered every presidential campaign from 1980-1992. She also covered the ethics investigation of former House Speaker Newt Gingrich.

She earned a bachelor of arts degree in English literature, graduating magna cum laude, from Northeastern University.

From what I've heard about Teresa, she might be a little hard to keep in line. If Kerry wants her bucks, he's going to have to pretend that he values her political opinions. She isn't likely to tolerate being led around by a keeper.

for the Boston Globe which should tell you
something right there. She was hired by CNN because of
appearing on all those newstalk shows on CNN, MSNBC,

Since I had things to do that kept me away from FReeping the White House Saturday, I went solo today. All was kind of routine until about 5 pm when Chris Black of CNN was broadcasting.

I yelled, "The Cox Report is still around, don't we HAVE to bomb somebody?" Followed by "When are you going to tell them that Reno turned down the FBI three times on that wiretap on the nuclear spy." Then I took a real cheap shot, "Tell the truth.

After she was finished her spot, Chris turned to the fence, and in a most ladylike way (considering there were numerous tourists including young children) screamed, "F--K, YOU!"
