At a time when Americans of many faiths – and even no faith – gear up to celebrate Christmas this year, a first-grade teacher in Sacramento Co., Calif., says she's been ordered by her principal not to utter the word "Christmas" at school.

The 24-year education veteran, who wishes to keep her name and the school anonymous at this time, claims she and two fellow instructors were told that use of the word "Christmas" in the classroom or in written materials was now prohibited.

There is only one response to this - do what ever it takes to get your children out of the public school system and the culture of death. It's important!

We are not having class on December 25th because it's, what?

Beginning of Kwanzaa Eve Day?

She'd better not say "Hanukka" or "Ramadan", either, then.

Can they say
Ramadan?
Channukah?
Kwanzaa?

This is a discrimination case pure and simple. Paging Thomas More Law!

Also, the school district is wrong. Christmas was approved as a secular holiday. They have no right to limit the teacher's use of free speech.

When I see stories like this, I'm thankful to be living in Arizona. Last night I went to my daughter's CHRISTMAS Holiday Concert at her PUBLIC high school. The orchestra, band and choirs did these songs and they were absolutely WONDERFUL:

Silent Night

Hark the Herald Angels Sing

Jesus, Joy of Man's Desiring

Joy to the World

A tear-inducing acapella song called "Song of Mary"

The First Noel

One Jewish song and secular favorites: Sleigh Ride, Jingle Bells, Deck the Halls, others

Grand Finale:

The Halleujah Chorus from The Messiah. The orchestra, band the main chorus plus alumni singers from the chorus were packed on the stage--there had to be 200+ kids singing and playing their hearts out. All the parents stood during the finale (traditional show of respect), and a lot of us had tears in our eyes.

Take THAT, ACLU!!!!

This isn't even "diversity," or "respect for the religion of others." At best, this is cowardice on the part of the principal; at worst, it is outright hatred of Christianity.

You're fortunate to live in Arizona. Here in California, we might as well rename our state "Mordor," because there is nothing but darkness.

I would love to see them begin a campaign to try and force all the kids to go to school on Dec. 25th.

The evil of Mordor, land of Sauron, lies to the East. It can be found sandwiched between the realms of Maryland and Virginia.

When you speak of California, you speak of Isengard and Orthanc to the West, the land of the Saruman and his evil orc and Uruk-hai hordes.

I live in Arizona where you may find the Riddermark (Riders of the Mark/Riders of Rohan) and Edoras.

Your sentiment is correct, but you need to get your geography straight.

I have a friend who just moved back to TX from CA. She lived in San Jose and her biggest complaint was the hours she and her husband had to spend sorting their trash. She sarcastically called it, "a religious experience".

I spoke with a representative in the communications department of the district. They know nothing about it, but the head of the department is supposed to be returning my call after a meeting. We are not going to let them get away with this. What an opportunity for a FReep! Maybe a radio station in the area would like to get involved.

Once again minority rules over the majority.

Both can be evil, which is worse?
