From an ad for the concert:
His reign as King of the Blues has been as long as that of any monarch on earth. Yet, B.B. King continues to wear his crown well. At age 76, he is still light on his feet, singing and playing the blues with relentless passion. Time has no apparent effect on B.B., other than to make him more popular, more cherished and more relevant than ever. B.B. King is as alive as the music he plays, and a grateful world can't get enough of him. And he's coming to Richmond's Carpenter Center on Saturday March 1st at 8pm.
You can purchase tickets via the internet before they go on-sale to the general public. Password protected presale starts Wednesday January 15th at 10am. The password is BLUES.
Click here to buy tickets beginning January 15th: Tickets
Tickets go on-sale via Ticketmaster phones (262-8100), Ticketmaster Outlets (Ukrops, Hechts, Tower Records), and in person at the Carpenter Center box office on Friday January 17th at 10am.

"The name of that Civil War park I was telling you of is Pamplin Park. One of my supervisors from Texas said he, as well as his young kids, enjoy it."Having been associated with Pamplin for two years, I admit that the kids will enjoy it. And adults who are novice historians will find it "fun". But that's the problem - to increase attendance, the Pamplins decided to "Disneyise" the Civil War and dumbed the whole thing down a couple of notches. This forced some of their better historians to leave. And the attendance did not go up, but declined even further as the true Civil War buffs began to avoid the place. And now I've heard that the Museum of the Confederacy, which has loaned most of the better artifacts to Pamplin, wants them back.

Mr. Iceskater and I might be interested in going also.
BB's CD "Ridin With the King" is one of my favs to skate to. The youngsters at the rink don't appreciate him, though. They're too young, I think.

"the Pamplins decided to "Disneyise" the Civil War and dumbed the whole thing down a couple of notches"DisneyLanding it to a certain degree is all fine and good, IMHO, but that by no means forces one to dumb the educational value down one iota. With DVD technology improving as it is, and as more folks git used to it, historic sites are increasingly turning to interactive technology that allows the tourist and/or CivilWarAficianado to learn as little or as much about a site as he or she wants. Robert E. Lee's home and birthplace are each experimanting with this technology and I totally expect the monies from the latest ParksBondReferendum that deal with historic structures will be spending their ExhibitDollar on DisneyLand-type improvements.

Leave the harmonica at home...you're not quite as pretty as the little gal who works in the office here, who I'm soon to determine as to her being spoken for or not.
And she doesn't have a mustache or paint her face blue.
