FWIW, I think Syria is actually following along with the Saudis--and they are every bit as treacherous. Syria is not an ally and never will be. Their jihad against the Christians in Lebanon and their continual harrassment of Israel from there ought to give our government a clue.

I think the interesting part is that Syria is smuggling UPGRADES, not rusty ole russian parts. Who is supplying the upgrades to Syria?
Think folks. This story is about an exposed tip of the iceburg. Why is the destabilzation of Africa being accomplished with NEW AK47's and the LATEST in Russian small arms.
Think. Someone is pouring gasoline on the fire. Someone who is not an Arab.

Notice the report in a Turkish newspaper a couple of days ago about 90,000 U.S. soldiers landing in the Turkish ports of Mersin and Iskenderun in the near future? Those two ports are very close to the Syrian border.

Interesting catch. I hadn't thought about that.

Think. Someone is pouring gasoline on the fire. Someone who is not an Arab.It isn't just the Russians. The Chinese are active in oil development in the Sudan and there have been Chinese weapons found in Afghanistan. And of course, they pull the strings in N. Korea.

Syria is not crazy about having a US supported Democracy on their Southern front. They would have to pull their military back and be unable to defend Hamas' activities against Israel.
Iran for that matter can't be happy having a reformed afghanistan on one side and a reformed Iraq on the other. But they might prefer a reformed Iraq to a Saddam led Iraq.
So far Iraq seems to be sitting on the fence. Occasionally making agreements with Saddam, and occasionally making agreements with the US.

"They've been the unofficial outlet for illegal Iraqi oil exports for years. They sponsor Hezbollah. Now this." Syria has three different terrorist groups operating out of buildings along a main street in Dasmacus.
Syria should be immediately included in the Axis of Evil.

There is apparently no shortage of Russian individuals supplying all the Western opponents with arms, nuclear or otherwise. Amazing. Yawn. Next tabloid trash story please.
