A man who allegedly tried to steal a car was shot and taken to an area hospital late Saturday.
According to Sgt. Shawn Stringer of the Tacoma Police Department, a man tried to steal a car near the 7000 block of I Street in Tacoma at about 10:30 p.m. The owner reportedly saw the suspect stealing the car, got into another car, chased him down and shot him.

Guy's in big, big trouble if it was. He's probably in big, big trouble anyway, since he chased him down. Unless, maybe, the thief was armed and could be clained to have been shooting at the owner.
Police don't have any identification on the young, white male who was shot. He was wearing a red jacket, a red cap, and wore a silver ring with a dollar sign on it.

Police spokesman Jim Mattheis said the man came out of his home around 10:30 p.m. Saturday to see his car being driven away. He ran back inside and grabbed a small caliber handgun, then jumped in a second vehicle and quickly pursued.
Witnesses told officers the car owner pulled alongside the other vehicle and fired several shots, Mattheis said.
One bullet struck the young man in the head.
The chase ended three blocks away from the man's home when the suspect crashed through a neighbor's fence and into another vehicle, police said.

I don't think you can run the guy down shooting through the neighborhood... Our theft victim is probably in trouble. Car thieves, however, ought to take notice.
