I disagree. Pro-life judges have a much BETTER chance of being confirmed with Frist as SML than they would if Lott had remained.

"CNN is saying a lot of Republicans are mad at Bush because he handled the entire matter so clumsily. Can you imagine?"

Yes, that is what CNN "wishes" would be true. Do I believe it? No!

Fox News is reporting a false headline "Trent Lott resigns as Senate Maj Ldr." On fact, Sen. Lott's statement says he "will not seek to remain Maj Ldr in the 108th Congress, beginning Jan. 6..."

That is NOT resigning. That is decling to seek the post next term.

What wager did you win and in what pool?

No "huge" wager or anything like that - and the pool was incredibly informal. I posted sometime last week that he'd be gone by the end of this week. Most other folks were tossing dates suggesting the first of the year or so.

What'd I win? More bragging rights than anything else... If you're interested in those kinds of pools, there's an Iraq War betting thread 'round here somewhere...

I remember when he was elected Senate leader (way back when). Conservatives were concerned even back then. His team put out the spin that he was a conservative. Actually, he's Bob Dole Jr.

Yes but now every Bush judge pick will be scrutinized for racist language and tossed out

That wasn't going to happen anyways ? And you think Cave-a-Lott would have stood strong ?

Looks like George W. Bush was misunderestimated again...

I'm convinced that Bush deliberately planted the "Dubya's a dummy" stories on the press as a deliberate strategery of subliminable disinformation so as to cause his opponents to misunderestimate him.

Man, the Dems must be asking, "Who are those guys?"]

You say that he's influenced by Spruance.

I think he's influenced by Clarence L. "Kelly" Johnson, first man to run the Lockheed Skunk Works. One of Johnson's rules was "Be quick, be quiet, be on time."

Matthews is really saying that Bush doesn't care about minority votes? Who is he kidding - very few liberals could say that with a straight face.

Now, now. This is a celebration, don't ya know? Let's not muck it up with the facts. [/sarcasm]

Force him to resign from the Senate? Do you intend to do the same for Hollings and Byrd? Hopefully, we can put this behind us....however, it the Democrats try to force a resignation or censure, another chopping block will be reserved for Bobby Byrd.

I am pleased to announce that Byrd hunting season is now open. Good hunting!

Don't think there will be much.

In any case, Frist also has a lot of touchy-feely in his favor, too. He's saved the lives of at least two heart-attack victims (one a tourist), he also assisted a colleague suffering from an asthma attack, another who collapsed recently (Thurmond?), and also treated victims of the Capitol shooting.

Frist has a LOT in his favor. They'll have a hard time - and McConnell's already warned the Dems that Senator KKK is fair game.

It is resigning because he had already been elected to ML for the 108th Congress.

I just checked Frist's ratings.

On the votes that the National Right to Life Committee considered to be the most important in 2001-2002, Senator Frist voted their preferred position 100 percent of the time.

2001: On the votes that the Planned Parenthood considered to be the most important from 1995 to 2001, Senator Frist voted their preferred position 0 percent of the time.

2001: On the votes that the National Abortion Reproductive Rights Action League considered to be the most important in 2001, Senator Frist voted their preferred position 0 percent of the time.

SURE DOESN'T SOUND LIKE A PRO-CHOICE RECORD TO ME!
