I make light, but all-in-all, it's a pretty damn sorry state of affairs if you ask me... True enough...
So, uh, can I have the pinata?

Carl Cameron on Fox says Lott will release a statement in about 10 minutes that he will NOT stand as ML.
To: BUSHdude2000
Fox News now reporting it. Lott will release a written statement in 13 minutes stating he will not stand for ML election and is supporting Frist.

Good riddance to Gutless Wonder.

Expect the Rats now to say the GOP is racist for tossing Lott.

I can't imagine why he'd stay in the Senate if he's giving up the top spot. Newt didn't stick around in the House.
Newt had a life outside of Washington. Lott has nothing back home except maybe a book no one would want to buy (see Jeffords)

Frist has an A rating from NRA.
Not a fire-breather, but he did a good job getting a lot of A-rated guys in, particularly Talent and Coleman.

Ooooh, Monty. Love your fashion statement with those "high water" trousers - and white socks with black shoes!

Sen. Kyl on Phoenix radio says he will stay in Senate.
...apparently was convinced and decided he was getting in the way
...ML will be peacefully decided
...he decided himself (nudge, nudge)

I'm glad if he leaves leadership, stays in Senate.
What I'm hearing isn't making me so glad about Frist as leader, though. Nickles would have been my preference.
But if Lott was a theoretical "pure" conservative who in reality was unable to get anything done, perhaps wee be better served by a relative conservative who can.

Just reported on Fox News. He'll have a news conference at 11:00 AM EST.
He is actually announcing he's "not going to stand for reelection as Senate Majority Leader," which would indicate to me that he's NOT going to leave the Senate.

Will he make the announcement on BET? OK, that's a 15 yard penalty for piling on!
To: BUSHdude2000
I told ya, I knew it.
Lott always has the same pattern before defeat. He claims he will fight till death and never give up the day before he caves. The minute he said he wouldn't never give up I knew he was about to. This guiy should never ever play poker for money.

CNBC reporting it now as well
