Fuzzy Strands Fill Skies Over Texas City (tinfoil alert)
AP ^

Posted on 12/21/2002 7:33:13 PM PST by Dallas

GALVESTON, Texas --

Galveston residents are still trying to figure out what caused the skies over their coastal city to literally be filled on Friday with floating strands of wads that looked like spider webs.

The webs were visible in the air for five hours, and poles were left wrapped with the sticky strands and fuzzy wads.

"It blew my mind. I have never seen anything like it before," said Lorenzo DeLacerta, who saw the webs about noon when he delivered building material to a site a mile east of the San Louis Pass Bridge.

DeLacerta said he called his sister, Gloria, who saw the same thing in the sky over nearby La Marque, The Galveston County Daily News reported Saturday.

A spokesman at the National Weather Service Office in League City said the service had received no reports of flying webs -- and that flying webs weren't really their thing.

The phenomenon has occurred in at least two other places. The Associated Press reported Oct. 8 that "long, floating spider webs" were "bobbing through the skies of Santa Cruz, Calif., ... confusing some community members concerned about biological weapons, UFOs and other phenomena."

And the Wallowa Chieftain in Oregon reported on Dec. 22, 2000, the sightings of "web-like material ... falling from the sky" that some locals thought came "from three military jets that had been flying back and forth in an east-west flight pattern at high altitude."

A University of Wyoming microbiology professor attributed the webs in Santa Cruz to young spiders that launch themselves on their homemade parachutes after hatching to be blown to a new home.

In Wyoming, dozens of the webs can been seen floating across the prairie in the spring, the professor was quoted as saying in the AP story.

However, on the Internet, some conspiracy connoisseurs remain convinced the webs are man-made and could be part of an elaborate government plot.

When someone on our porch passes gas loud enough to be heard, my wife utters, "Big spiders out here." Must be a lot of spiders around these towns!

No way. It's obvious that the webs are part of an invasion by aliens from outer space.

Big event last year up in the DFW area.... sometime after 9/11. One Sunday during the midday.... I can't find the thread on it.... But they were all over the place up that way... News media out, etc. I can't remember but I think it was some type spider webs or maybe something to do with the cottonwood trees....

Hardy har har.

Natural material could very well be the cause. Also, it is inconveivable to me that the fedral government would be so remise, that it would not extensively test delivery mechansims of bio/chemical agents.

My background is physics. If I wanted to test the spreading-zone delivery of bio/chemical agents from a high-flying aircraft, I would have, long ago, understood that the best technique is to attach the agent to a carrier material that can be reliably ejected from an aircraft, and most importantly has predictable and controllable settling property under varied atmospheric conditions. Given a little thought, cotton candy (spun sugar) or a similar carrier is a good vehicle.

As you may recall, there were failed attempts by terrorists to poison Tokyo residents with Seran Nerve Gas that was swept-away upward in the Urban Thermal Updraft, that lends credence to the idea that a well qualified carrier and delivery mechanism is a necessity for accurate targeting.

Any questions?

I saw the spiders marching through the air,
Swimming from tree to tree that mildewed day
In latter August when the hay
Came creaking to the barn.

You probably can't find the thread because it was most likely deleted. These kinds of threads ARE, because no one wants to believe the govt/'powers-that-be' would EVER do anything sinister to citizens.

They're just passing gas from passing jets. (no matter HOW much they 'fluff up' OR take to dissipate[sp])

The above picture was taken by Kevin Bartram of the Galvaston County Daily News. It was published online with this:

What are these things? Strands of web cling to utility lines along Teichman Road in Galveston on Friday. The webs dropped from the sky across the county. No one is sure what the webs actually are.

So what is the govt's big goal here with these webs?

I have no idea.

BUT, if the 'complaints' are so persistent, then MAYBE it wouldn't 'hurt' for someone to do an honest investigation.

There have been a LOT of theories on what's going on, up there. A lot of accusations. You don't have to be tin-foil clad to notice that there are unusual grids and such in the sky.

It could very well be a simple 'test' dealing with 'weather', or bio-terror properties/dispersals, or 'poop-trails' from passing jets. Who knows?

I'll probably look like a tin-foiler here, but what would the govt's big goal be, to whittle away at the Constitution, using the WOT as the 'reason'? Our govt is no longer 'by the people'...it's 'FOR the people'. (they decide what's best for us)

I know...I know, apples and oranges on that last one, eh?

You would think they might, at least for appearance, they have sent teams in biohazzard suits to investigate spilled non-dairy creamer.

Huh?

NOTHING has a predictable and controllable settling property dropped from a high-flying aircraft under varied atmospheric conditions that is smaller/lighter than a bowling ball. And even something that big (or an unguided bomb) will actually have a great deal of random spread in its fall.

One thing that was so laughable about the chemtrail idiots is that ANYTHING dropped from aircraft at high altitude is going to end up landing several hundred miles away...and it will be next to impossible to predict exactly where. Every "Chemtrail" supposedly seen within 300 miles of the US East Coast would have inevitably led to whatever "material" dropped landing in the Atlantic Ocean.

And every person who saw a supposed "chemtrail" overhead and then claimed to have various medical symptoms probably had no idea it is physically impossible for a high-flying aircraft overhead in viewing distance to drop a powder, aerosol, etc. that would land within a hundred miles of them.

Nice absolute statements. Would you mind explaining why not? It might not be very likely, but physically impossible? I think not. Anything light, like chaff for example, dropped from an aircraft drops very quickly to zero speed relative to the wind. The wind may be different at different altitudes, and might not even all be in the same direction. Plus the flight path of the aircraft as it dropped the stuff might be alignned along the average wind vector. Thus the stuff dropped before the aircraft got "overhead", or even over the horizon if it's not too high and the wind not too heavy, could easily fall at the location of the viewer.

Several years ago this happened and they showed the stuff floating around on TV. It was a Houston TV station--don't remember the details.

I'm wondering if it has something to do with colder temps.

If spider web stuff could be mass-produced it would be a huge boon to civilization. Last we looked, chemists are working on it but don't quite have the formula.

In the summer, when I go jogging, there is a stretch on my route that has a chainlink fence running parallel to it for about a quarter of a mile. The area is rural. For a few weeks the entire length of the fence becomes filled with wispy webs about four to six feet in length. I am constantly brushing them off of and away from my forehead and face as I run. I have paused on occasion long enough to examine them closely and I have discovered they are made by spiders so small they are easy to overlook.
